BASC Council Election

Recommended Posts

When the dust eventually settles on this unnecessary debacle, I believe BASC members will realise how important it is to have good, knowledgeable members sitting around the Council table. There is still time to vote in this year's Council election and there is one candidate who fits the bill as an experienced, knowledgeable shooting man :- Allen Musselwhite.

If you or your friends haven't cast your vote as yet, please send your postal vote today or, better still, go to the BASC web site and follow the instructions to cast your vote.

John

When the dust settles I hope they give a frank and true account to their members and not try and sweep it all under the carpet and start spinning carp thinking we will just swallow it.

If they're not shooters or country sports people they shouldn't be allowed to stand for election.

BASC has just issued a brief statement: http://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/latest-news/basc-statement-2/

Following the resignation of Alan Jarrett as Chairman of BASC, Council unanimously elected Peter Glenser as Chairman. Mr. Glenser’s term as Chairman will end at Council’s meeting on the 18th June when a further election for Chairman will be held.
The following tendered their resignation from Council: Alan Balfour, Jonathan Garton and Alan Jarrett. Two further members of Council will be elected on the 18th June.
Peter Glenser is often described in the shooting press as the “UK’s leading firearms barrister”. He specialises in the law relating to firearms, crime and regulatory law especially in rural and agricultural matters. He is a keen shot, a member of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers and has served on Council since 2009. He writes for The Shooting Gazette, Gun Trade News and other publications on matters concerning firearms law. He recently represented members of the Lamerton Hunt privately prosecuted by the League Against Cruel Sports. The League’s case collapsed when Mr. Glenser revealed the close links between the League and the expert witness.

Time we knew all we are members

Who are council who is my nearest council member how do I contact them outside BASC

My local District Councillor My local County Councillor I can find home numbers for them all

BASC needs to get away from being a big club when it wants to be and not when it wants to be.

For me you've spurted some sense there figgy old boy.

So we've had defector shifty swifty, then a round with Ali and during this time the membership has actually grown. Makes you wonder what a properly unified shooting body could achieve with strong leadership.

Yep. The problem is is that the staff is the tail and the Council is the dog but which is wagging what?

What I expected no direct contact only through Marford Mill

Need to stand tall not be frightened of members contacting them as said local politicians look on websites local to you I can find all contact details for my local Councillors and most meetings are open to public although closed sessions for some issues oh we have 130 thousand residents, can all go to meetings room holds about 130 If any controversial issues ticket system first come first in

BASC system keeps members in the dark more than it did how do I know that I am an ex BASC council member

.....and, incidentally, in my experience the initial contact with a Council member is made through BASC, I would`nt want some anti nutter, or shooting nutter for that matter, given my contact details.

Once you`ve established your bona fides there`s no reason why any subsequent correspondence should`nt be direct with the Council member.

That seems perfectly fair to me.

How come that when you were a BASC Council Member you did`nt sort out some of the issue that you now take such delight in revealing to us?

Probably for the same reason most councils do not work properly, the odd genuine voice is constantly drowned out by the **** licking individuals, climbers, factions and interest groups within

BASC is a democratic organisation run under its constitution and rules, it's as simple as that.

If you want to elect members to represent you on council then use the prescribed process as detailed in in the mag where all members are sent voting papers

Want to make changes to those rules then use the prescribed process for AGM resolution as printed in the mag as well as listed in t h e constitution

Want to contact members of counci then use th form on the web site or write to them at the mill

This has been the process for ages, want to change that then use the protocols listed above

its just a means of communicating rather than censorship

I'd ignore this stream of unpunctuated consciousness if it arrived on my doorstep.

Flashman do you ignore people who don't pause when talking to you ?

BASC is there to help not question how well written your correspondence is.

If you want help, common courtesy dictates you meet them half way but at least making an effort to explain yourself.

And it answer to your questions,"no", I don't ignore them. I smirk and ask them if their carer's about.
