Fathers Day portrait

It's lovely how our kids come through. I got this email from my now adult daughter yesterday. Her Mum and me split up thirty years ago and I've always felt that I've never done enough for my kids. It was accompanied by a montage of photo's of happy times.

I would say to any other parents who don't think they've done enough, remember what you have done.

Hang on, I've got a bit of dust in my eye.

Dearest dad,

It's that time of year again where we reflect on how awesome our pops are. Lucky for me, that's not a difficult task.
From my first memory at 4 years old when you came to my rescue after I locked myself in your 3 wheeler (yes, I remember that).
Doing a runner from the free church when you took me to play (I remember that too).
I remember our camping trips and how much I looked forward to seeing you. So much so, that I would spend the first day of my visit vomiting with excitement.
At 11, you married *****. What an addition to my life. I adored her then and I still do today. Ok, we had our ups and downs through my teens. The reason for that is that I was an *** hole (hehe).
Fast forward to 1997. The SCARIEST time of my life. Where were you and *****? You were right by my side! Many times you have been called on by me (or ******'s school) for help. You are always there.
You took me to get me first car, first camping trip, and you taught me to ride a bike! (I remember).
So, when you're beating yourself up about the things you didn't do, remember the things you did do.
You're my dad and I love you.

Happy Father's Day. Xxxxxxx

Very good, especially as your children are only in their twenties.

The surprise to me is that you can still get around with dislocated knees and club foot.

It's very advanced pre, post-modern uber neo-primitivistic pop fauvism with a twist of Tony Hartism, you probably don't understand art like what I does.

I'm in constant physical pain by the way, but the tiny pants keep my spirits up.

I've had my likeness taken as Fathers Day present. I have to say it is very accurate, especially the double muscles - although the tiny pants are definitely artistic licence.

I think its highly commendable to allow your children this freedom of expression, I speak from experience and believe that your children will one day accept you as "normal" despite your obvious er special-ness, we are after all, all special really :unhappy:
