16 bore fan club

Recommended Posts

I am a big 16 bore fan i have been for years load steel and lead in them, i am gunless at the moment i bought a Browning BPS in 16 bore but despite the fact i have had several BPS 10ga guns over the years the BPS 16 was a bitter dissapointment and i sold it more or less within a month, chap i sold it too loves it as he should its fired less than 50 rounds from new, but from my point of view i hated the way it handled.

Guns to chose,? I think i will get a humble Baikal or belgian probably a hammer gun, i had an A5 browning one time and some how missed on on here a wile ago i doubt i will find another, im no ithaca 37 fan so wont be looking for one of those i think a model 12 would be nice but again finding one over here.

I am not a 16 bore low pressure group user i want modern performance lil gun and non tox so most of the british offerings are out, a BSA sxS in 16 bore would fit the bill if i could find one but apart from that i will struggle.

I might buy a fias jaguar OU if i find one hard chrome barrels and basicaly a browning medalist not a bad budget ou. And of course the Baikal OU, an older 610 611 or 627 would be prefered but i would have a multi chhoked 27 or rem spr 310 if one turned up.

Last but not least Remington sportsman 1100 rem choke synthetic this would be good , and one i forgot the remington 1148 i would like one of those.

The hunt goes on one day ill turn up my keeper 16 wish i never sold my 16 A5 and mt St ethene 16 OU.

Being skint i n young years with 3 kids robs you of things like these and they take some finding again. good luck whatever you chose.

My first double was a german GECO 16 bore sxs, single trigger ejector, which I got new about 25years ago and have since passed on to my nephew who continues to shoot it now.

I was without a 16 for years and have recently decided to re acquaint myself with one, and got a nice, CZ 585 o/u.

Getting some reloading gear together bit by bit also as it's a mission trying to get hold of a regular supply of ammo around here.

I am a big fan of the FN Browning Auto 5, and waiting to find my holy grail.... an FN Sweet Sixteen Auto 5.

Seen a few older 16 bore variants, but I want 'Proper' Sweet Sixteen"- not seen one here in the UK yet.....to date.....top of my wish list.

Have an Army & Navy 16 which is over 100yrs old, originally black powder but had it nitro proofed. Damascus barrels. Beautiful little gun that I now occasionally take out. I also have a 16 gauge Remington 1100 which is a superb gun in a pigeon/crow hide. Purchased that at Thrapston Gun Auction ..oh way back in early 90s. 16s are so sweet to shoot and will do the job in spades if you do.

Have been a lover and user of 16s for about 40 years.

Currently down to just one 16, a Hellis SxS non ejector made in 1930. This one's for keeps as I shoot as well as I ever will with it.

Have previously owned 3 SxS 16s by Pape ( 2 ejectors & 1 non ejector dated 1901, 1912 & 1929 respectively), Leeson, Gallyon and also Damascus barrelled Symons now owned and used by Brno22rf.

Also had and one day will get another, a Lincoln Jubilee Prestige in 16 bore. True scaled down action as opposed to the Macnab 16 that I had for about 6 months, based upon a 12 action, just couldn't get on with it, too heavy. It had none of the advantages of a 16 i.e light and sweet to shoot but the one disadvantage of slightly more expensive cartridges.

I shoot a 16 G Astra-Unceta y Cia SA and a 16g Webley

Always have been a fan of the gague... may have been developed for the female shooter but I don't care  Great hide guns and well balanced .

I also have single barrel Astra 16G ejector which I often take out..I shoot it like a rifle and its very effective.

The sweet 16 are nice guns, I have recently added an old Winchester model 24 sxs and a nice Lincoln OU both in 16g to my collection,

If you find you don't like the sweet 16 Mat let me know !!!! Jim.

No chance of that Jim, its a gun that i've put plenty of times as it belongs to a farmer i used to work for! Just needs abit of restoration!
