Danger-Mouse
I heard some of it. What I did hear seemed pretty balanced and gun owners were allowed to make their cases. The only person that annoyed me was the doctor who wanted licence fees increasing to £250 on the grounds that shotguns cost thousands of pounds and such a fee would therefore be easily affordable to everyone who shoots. keg
I think that's the bit i heard DM, I was hoping someone would ring in and say " if we got the service levels.." Saying that, as you and i are under Wakefield, i cannot complain.

Although having said that we're far from the worst off according to those stats someone put on here a while back.
old man
Didn't hear it but no doubt the topic was proposed by Aunty the Anti to stir the pot. About time it was put to the market to break it up a bit. Far to entrenched and smug for me.
hedd-wyn
I heard it. It was quite frustrating at times. Wasn't one of the guests a PW member? Srspower? He's put a few videos up on here, sounded like him.

Yeah that bit annoyed me too and jez's loaded questions pushing for stricter licensing, and he wasn't interested in the explanation regarding police forces being stretched to the limit

Scully
Vine was pushing for a bit of mock scandal but it didn't work. The entire article didn't live up to what I'm pretty sure the Beeb would have liked and was an absolute non event in my opinion. He whom shan't be mentioned had good input as usual, but the relevant police licensing authority didn't come out of it well, nor the underfunded process. Zetter
The lawyer that had on who did firearms law really put him back in his box in my opinion before he even got going. She was someone who deals with the aftermath of revocations and she pointed out what we all know that in most forces one step out of line and ticket is gone along with your guns and you are not likely to see them back! The doctor amused me with the guns are expensive so you can afford a hike in fees. Would he like to apply this to other sports for a random example Scuba Diving, costs a lot so if you injure yourself doing it do you can afford to pay for treatment. The best bit was if you didn't go to your doctor for ages they just put "yep applicant is ok as far as we know"

Eyefor
I cannot abide Jeremy Vine. Anything he is on - TV or radio - I switch off. He thinks antagonism is good journalism and his (already huge) ego is being further inflated at our (the BBC licence payer) expense. An under-informed narcissist tw 4 t for whom I do not have enough time left on this planet to waste even a millisecond upon. norfolk dumpling
Usual ******** whenever guns are mentioned. His experts however - ******* and a specialist lawyer - were excellent and the whole thing fell flat. It was only the knob GP who kept JV's enthusiasm going otherwise this might have been a very short article. What is wrong with the name '*******' please?Done it again moderators - can we not mention a very well known shooting journalist? ?? wandringstar
He isn't the worst by a long way, I liked his response in his recent cycle rage case, when he said that the only person paying road tax, insurance etc during that incident was himself, yet he was intimidated by a road user paying none of it. I thought he was on (or off?) his bicycle in that incident? Is the London Mayor taxing bikes now - and how many cyclists have insurance? grrclark
I think Jeremy Vine is a really talented presenter and is a smart guy. He plays his role perfectly as devil's advocate and agent provocateur. Remember his role is to get the audiences dander up whether it be in support of the topic or against it. It does not necessarily hold that his personal views are the same as it may appear. He uses simplistic argument to provoke a reaction, much like many contributors on PW.
