lloydi73
Yes, this is a genuine question and is for a friend not me..... basically, he lives 40 miles from work so stays away at his mothers all week and Saturdays as he owns a garage. I’ve gotten him into clay pigeon shooting so he now wants to apply for his license. he wants to keep the cabinet at his mothers, can he do this if he doesn’t live there? obviously he knows she can’t have keys or access to said cabinet. Ive tried calling FEO for advice but he’s now off til NY........
WelshMike
I have a friend as well.....his uncle lost his licence due to being a little unsteady on his feet at 96 so the nephew got his ticket and the guns are still at his uncles locked in the cabinet with the nephew being the only one to have the keys. Newbie to this
Yes, not a problem, there's a section on the application to fill out if the security arrangements aren't at your home address.
Grange1905
My FEO didnt like the idea of the gun safe being in a priperty if a non SGC holder even though it is less than a mile from me with very frequent visits. Best to enquire with the fire arms department, as his situation, living there 6 days a week, is somewhat different.
Walker570
Yes, make an enquiry as all these departments seem to make up their own rules. If the cabinet passes what would be normal arrangements and only you have the key I can see no problem......back to the beginning Yes, make an enquiry.................. welshwarrior
Sounds like he life's there 6 days a week to me so he'd be better safer/ more resident there than at his house that he stays in on Sundays.

Benthejockey
Although he might have his own ‘home’ if he’s living at his mums 6 days a week I’d argue he’s resident there.
crossy 666
If I was him I would fit a cabinet at both homes and then he can keep them at both

Lloyd90
I’m still registered with SW Police even though currently living in Bristol. I informed them about it when I moved out of Uni Accom into a rented house - I told them I don’t plan to stay in the rented house for too long although I put a cabinet in at the rented house as it was a pain going back and forth to Wales. I also informed Avon & Somerset who said they had no problem with it. Have bought a house here now though so once it all completed etc I’ll apply to change it over to A&S
