winnie&bezza
Good morning all, A wealthy customer of mine has given me me this table as a project to do up. It belonged to his mother. He is massively into his antiques and has spent a fortune on them. He reckons it was made 1810-20s so regency period. Anyone on here shed any light? robbiep
It might be, or it might be a repro. Only way to tell is by looking at the screws on the lock plates, the jointing on the drawers, and a hundred and one other little bits. Personally, I'm not keen on 'doing up' things like that unless the patina is really knackered. All those marks tell a story of two hundred years of use. I’ll takw some closer pics 👍🏻 I will only glue back in a brass inlay strip which has come out of a leaf. Of course

stumfelter
Sand it down and give it a coat of shabby chic chalk paint and you'll get £50 on gumtree.

Ricko
Don't position it near a radiator or it will start to dry the joints out etc.

loriusgarrulus
Its a lovely table. I don't worry about fashionable furniture. I prefer good solid old fashioned brown wood.

Nice gift mate ..thick end of 200 years old , there’s no substitute for quality. How many bits of furniture you can buy today will last a quarter of that ..have a look about and see what a nice condition one makes , it might surprise you .Money aside if you like it keep it ..I wouldn’t think of getting rid of it .. Mice!
looks nice, perhaps the fella thought you would appreciate the workmanship, there was something of a similar age on an antiques program a few weeks back, bigger dinning table and I'm sure it only made a few £100 shocking really when you consider the quality and age.
