Ricko
I've brought a tomtom sat navy home from work to try and get it working. It keeps coming up with a message: Waiting for a valid Gps signal. I've charged it fully and done a system reset and it still shows this message. Anybody experienced similar and solved it??? Cheers Edited May 11, 2019 by Ricko
panoma1
Simplistically, have you tried leaving it outside in the open, switched on! For a while? That's what I had to do with my Garmin handheld GPS.
snow white
I had to leave outside to pick up gps data
loriusgarrulus
They rarely work indoors. If you haven't already try it outside or in the front window of your car.
B725
If its not been used in a while it takes 10 or more minutes to reconnect to the GPS, leave it turned on and outside.

There seems to be a pattern here!
fse10
Could also try going into settings & click on configure satellites.

VicW
To upset the apple cart, my Tom Tom sat nav works perfectly indoors. Maybe it depends on where you are. Vic.
Ricko
Hmmm, have taken the satnav for a ride in the car, still no joy. I think it must be FUBAR.

When did it stop working? Have you tried updating the satellites by plugging it into a computer?
ph5172
Download the Tom Tom program to your pc. Plug it in and run an update. Even if it won’t update the maps with will update the firmware and quick gps co-ordinates. Leave it on outside for a bit after. If that doesn’t work it’s scrap. Loki
Hiya TomTom advised updating before 6th April to overcome an issue similar to the Y2K where the internal clock needs updating. As said above download the TT program (TT Mydrive for newer ones and something else for others) and update all they offer and should be good - assumes your TT is relatively new. You will have to register the TT with its seriel number. Jaymo
If it’s an early TomTom go etc then I’m afraid it’s beyond help. In April there was an internal date software issue ( gps derives it’s position for working out the minuscule differences in time between its internal clock and the time signal received from the Satellites- 3 required for 2d positioning ( fine on the road) or 4 for 3d positioning giving altitude
