Yellow Bear
I notice this morning that JC is ramping up the usual hate and envy of get rid of the "elite". He seems to have forgotten that most of his champagne socialist cronies (who have never had a proper job) fall into that category.

bostonmick
I only hope that the brexit party do not xause a hung parliament whereby Labour and libdems etc form an alliance. Labour would give these anything they asked for just to be in power. The idea of brexit party is appealing but unfortunately they will not gain enough seats to make a difference. daveboy
If Boris hasn't got the sense to have a pact with the Brexit party, he doesn't deserve to win. If the Brexit party doesn't stand in Tory strongholds Boris will walk it.

If we are to see through on the referendum and actually leave - this can ONLY happen if a 'leave' party is in a majority or coalition/working agreement majority. This could happen in various ways; A straight Tory majority (risky, but the most likely route) A Tory minority with coalition/working agreement partner(s) - who might be Brexit and or possibly DUP A Brexit minority with coalition/working agreement partner(s) - who would have to include Tory - (this is highly unlikely as Brexit would be almost impossibly unlikely to win more seats than the Tories). A straight Brexit majority. (This is almost impossibly unlikely). Any other majority or coalition of Labour, LibDem, SNP would result in remain. Sensibly, the Brexit party should do a deal with the Tories to allow Brexit to target Labour held leave seats - unopposed by Tories - and in return not stand against Tories in seats where the Tories are in with a good chance. It is a winning formula, but will the leaders go for it - or are their egos too big? 7 minutes ago, daveboy said: If the Brexit party doesn't stand in Tory strongholds Boris will walk it. It is the Tory marginals that could fall to LibDem (or in fewer cases Labour) where Brexit pose the greatest threat to the Tories. Tory 'strongholds' probably have a lower risk of losing to anyone. daveboy
You are of course correct... I should have said where the Tories have a chance of winning...and the Brexit party targeting Labour seats.

Rewulf
I think many massively overestimate the lib dems, sure they'll gain some seats, but a lot of them will be taken directly from Labour, not the tories. Even then, what are we talking, 20 to 30 seats in total? Say half of them come from Labour, it doesn't close the gap on what gains will be made by the tories in the Midlands and North. Whilst I'm not saying this is an open and shut case, there's also some confusion about tory and BP fighting over votes, Farage has already said this won't be happening.. Repeatedly. So let's all settle down, watch the highly entertaining events unfold, and, if you're a leaver, look forward to a little early Xmas present, and a bit of order restored for next year. SpringDon
Hope you’re right but I’m not so sure. The conservatives under may had a poll lead twice the size of boris’s and look what happened there. I think it’s another hung parliament in the offing. TIGHTCHOKE
I just hope that there is a big enough majority to ensure Parliament runs as it should and as it used to. If we end up with a hung Parliament it will just roll on for another 5 bloody years.
Rewulf
There are a potential 17.4 m tory and brexit party voters out there. Plus plenty more potential for tory and Labour Party remainers to switch sides. The libdems and Labour have some pretty scary policies out there, and some very scary shadow cabinet members that normal coherent people will shy away from. If Labour weren't so pig headed, they would remove corbyn ahead of the election, and give themselves a boost. But it ain't happening, because they lack the wits. WestonSalop
Actually, I hope they keep Corbyn. That will increase the probability of people seeing through the Labour Party for what they have become - the Communist Party. This morning's attacks by Corbyn on what he calls the "elite" are so unbelievably naïve. I'm no elitist - god knows I am so far down the pecking order I'm more of a Baldrick than a Melchit - and I have low opinions of some of the landowners around here but Labour needs to acknowledge the realities of life. Capitalism = Human Nature, whether you like it or not. Fact. Get on with it. No, keep Corbyn at the helm.

The people who pull the strings in the Labour party (Jon Lansman, Seaumus Milne, etc.) will support Corbyn. Once Corbyn wins (if he did) then John McDonnell will bid to replace him. McDonnell is seen as less 'avuncular' and more lefty than Corbyn by many - and he prefers to call the tune, but not take the responsibility for losing. 51 minutes ago, Rewulf said: Farage has already said this won't be happening.. Repeatedly. He has also said he would rather have a delay than Boris's 'deal' (repeatedly) and has said that he will oppose Boris in every seat if he intends to proceed with his 'deal' (repeatedly). Farage does speak well, but whilst he may be solid about leaving Europe, he has changed his mind many many times about so many other things - standing down as UKIP leader, re joining UKIP as leader, leaving UKIP, rejoining UKIP, leaving UKIP again retire from politics, come back. He has personally failed (and so have both UKIP and Brexit) to win a single seat at Westminster - despite (repeatedly) standing personally 7 times (Eastleigh, Salisbury, Bexhill and Battle, South Thanet, Bromley & Chislehurst, Buckingham and South Thanet (again)). He does speak well, and he makes sense, but he is also seemingly unable to team build and quixotic. I hope that he will do what is generally considered 'right for the country' and work sensibly with other 'leave' candidates to secure a leave government. bostonmick
I have just heard the corbyn battle cry on the radio. He is going to take down the elitists of this country. Now my idea of someone that is on the elite list would be a person who owns more than one house. So is corbyn going to attack himself and his sidekick abott. He owns several houses one of which is valued over a million. She has three out on rent. There are a good many millionaires on his benches and in my humble opinion having a million plus puts you firmly in the elite class. It's a pity they can't be investigated for hypocrisy as well as being a racist party.
Rewulf
Oops! Jewish Labour Movement @JewishLabour · 5h At our AGM in April, we adopted policy deeming Jeremy Corbyn unfit to be Prime Minister and this will be reflected in our general election campaigning. In effect virtually EVERY MP will be worth over a million (or should be). Either they have a London home, or they have two homes (one of which generously funded by the taxpayer. They also have a pension scheme that would cost well over £1M if you had to buy that sort of pension as a private individual - and that stays for life even if they lose their seat. The difference is that (most) Tory MPs admit to being wealthy, few LibDems do (though most are) and very few Labour do (though many are very wealthy, Corbyn (£3M), McDonnell (London House and holiday home) Thornberry (several properties and big earning husband), Benn (inherited wealth and estate in Essex), etc). List here https://www.leftfutures.org/2013/04/labour-politicians-on-the-rich-list/ Many Labour MPs and grandees also went to privarte schools and/or send their children to private schools. https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1181493/labour-private-schools-how-many-labour-MPS-went-to-private-school-Jeremy-Corbyn https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocracyuk/these-figures-show-how-out-of-touch-uk-politicians-are-from-everyone-else/
