Raja Clavata
Long shot but if anyone has any leads on sourcing a lung simulator / emulator please PM me!? Testing and subsequent certification seems to be the bottleneck for many enterprises trying to support the ventilator shortfall here in the UK and beyond. Thanks! Raja Clavata
Various UK companies have or are in the process of switching production and a few others like Dyson have designs from legacy systems in the pipeline. Some designs have been rejected and others are progressing - massive effort - but there seems to be a shortage of know-how and access to the lung simulators required for testing the device. Raja Clavata
Update: Looks like an emulator has been sourced from a UK University - the device being developed is called Breathematic.

That looks about what I had visualised in my minds eye as ideal but settled for hand held nebuliser instead as better than nothing if I get covid 19 added to my emphysema and asthma. I can at least tell NHS I have one at home if they can supply me with a suitable drug. I think I'd much rather wear a mask feeding slightly pressurised oxygen enriched air than intubation which I have read is very uncomfortable and often doesn't prevent death anyway. old man
Looking inwards the Dyson jobs look very expensive and complicated compared to others? No mention of Nick Grey and his company who was first on scene with a free set up.

I hope you keep well Sir! 1 minute ago, old man said: Looking inwards the Dyson jobs look very expensive and complicated compared to others? No mention of Nick Grey and his company who was first on scene with a free set up. It's not my field of expertise but I know there is a lot of certification required for such products (various IEC-60601 standards), with limited time and bandwidth for this and the nature of the "race" to support i suspect it's inevitable that not all designs would be taken forward for manufacture at this stage. However as I understand it most of the mature designs will be baselined and made available globally (not everywhere has the same standards on this type of equipment). From what I've seen, very much on the periphery, there has been a magnificent effort and response from UK industry around this involving cross company collaboration that is previously unheard of. There may well need to be a review of how we (GB PLC) got into this hole with ventilators in the first place - but that is for another day.
