I could see the same happening in England,

British police officers tased a blind man who was armed with a deadly white walking stick.

Then there was Jean de Menezes on London tube which we're all familiar with, Steven Waldorf in 1983...

No where near comparable, the Canadian is a law abiding citizen, going about their job, the other was a criminal that ran onto a tube, days after a terrorist attack on the tube.

The police may have got it wrong, but De Menezes made the first error, which in turn caused the police's.

Still not comparable.

One was a innocent law abiding citizen doing their lawful job.

The other was none of the above

The man was confronted by officers at gunpoint, but they soon discovered the sword was fake, and he was just out for a walk in his fancy dress.

He will be a COSPLAY enthusiast - a lot of them all over the country have been going out dressed as different characters for the kids stuck in houses. Someone I know has been doing his daily exercise at lunchtime round his local area dressing as different characters each day (he has about 10) - in better times he does birthday parties, special appearances, charity work and related conferences.

I wouldn't do it but they are serving a need for the kids
