Strimmer will not feed

As above, have a look on the tube. Make sure the lines are wound the correct way and not overlapping. As stated most need the head to be tapped on the ground when it’s spinning, this releases the lock and centrifugal force does the rest👍

I have just bought a new mcgregor strimmer and it will not feed the nylon lines out I have tried rewinding the lines back on the spool but it makes no difference, any ideas?

Did the new McGregor come with instructions?

Like foxbuster said make sure it’s at least 1/2 throttle & give it a good tap on hard ground, failing that get a goat 🐐

If it’s wound on to tight to the spool or sometimes over filled, it binds itself and won’t feed out, snapping at the outlet eye instead.

But most likely spooled on the wrong direction though I’ve used strimmers before that didn’t have an auto feed, instead you had to stop the machine, open it up and manually pull line out 😮

Buy a Stihl

Must admit I had that problem with a big Stihl with a proper Stihl auto feed head.

Got sick it it and bought a different head, can't mind the name but Oregon make them and u just slide pre cut bit of Strimmer line in.

Works well no hassles and thick 4 or 5mm line so not getting wore down too much.

Need a big engine to run 5mm strimmer line.

I have a Ryobi 24cc two smoke bought some special square section yellow and black shakespear strimmer line because it's supposed to last and cut better.

It does but strimmer can just to say cope with its extra size and weight over thin round wire.

Let us know how you get on Heron.

Line on the spool put on in the wrong direction now works a treat.
