JonathanS
Evening all, Just thought I’d pick your brains and see if you have any sage advice regarding the best cartridges for pigeon for my newly purchased AYA N.4. Gun was advertised on here recently and bought by me- took it out yesterday on clays and was great. It’s a 70mm chamber. I’ve got a slab of RC Sipes 30 6 and wondered if they would be too much? thanks
ditchman
28gm #7's
Old farrier
The best cartridges are the ones you have got 😊👍 swap the odd box if you want to try something different
matone
I find 1oz and lighter do the job in my No4 and other s/s. Just revisited 1oz 7`s this week and they worked a treat on pigeons...but so do 6`s and 5`s,lol. Hth
Mr grumpy
Dont go anything over 30gm.unless you have a friend that is a dentist
enfieldspares
It depends how many cartridges you anticipate using in a slab then 28 gram loads will makes sense. If not use what you have to hand 30 gram English #6 will be fine. Edited June 21, 2020 by enfieldspares
JonathanS
Ok so I’ll go for a 28grm 6 I guess?

matone
Hull Imperials,RC Professional Game,Gamebore Super Game etc are all effective and smooth ,personally i give a wide birth to the black cased offerings of the big names which are just plain unpleasant in s/s although good cartridges in 7lb + guns!! If we're talking decoying we could have knocked this on the head after the first reply. Pattern kills and at the shorter ranges when decoying the pattern can be kept up to the mark with more open choke which makes life easier and there's energy for a bit of a stretch. Walker570
19g of 7s works for me There again I don't shoot a AYA No4. Edited June 21, 2020 by Walker570
Rob85
Lyalvale pigeon power 29g 6s in fibre wad shoot lovely in my yeoman. Plenty of punch in them without being punishing to shoot. The other reason I like them is they are cheap!

greylag
28 or 30 gramm work perfectly in my number 4.I have found that over 30 gramm it does not throw a good pattern.I have been using my number 4 for at least thirty five years with no problems and it is my go to gun for almost all my shooting
Robertt
The top 3 in my No 4 are, Lylvale Supreme 30g, Pigeon Power 29g and Hull Imperial.
Rob85
I once put some old SC GAME labelled 32g 5s through my yeoman, pigeon got out of a tree right beside me and I went for a snap shot, it kicked that hard my finger slipped and hit the 2nd trigger too, gave my teeth one hell of a rattle, dog looked at me disgusted so we just packed up and went home. Haven't dared go over 30g since haha
