boo
Been meaning to do this for an age , so this week , pulled all the **** out , used anything to hand to create a couple of benches , basically a picnic bench and seats for tops , sawn up lumps of timber for legs , left over flooring to top the benches & old wardrobe/ counter tops for shelves ! Moved & cleaned up the lathe, couple of led lights / sockets and hey ho ! Tomorrow fit bench grinder & chopsaw... Other workshop adjoins the garage, were I mainly make sticks etc , nice to have a bit more room, next objective is to make a router sled... mel b3
id give my left testicle for that lathe , and not wishing to get picky , but youve fitted that blue vice to the wrong side of the bench .
Walker570
That's far to tidy for a workshop I fitted new LED lights and now not sure they are the right thing as they throw deep shadows.
boo
🤣🤣🤣 that blue vice , was used to hold weight moulds for casting beach weights , will find it a new home ! The lathe is a 1974 myford super7 , fitted a newton Tesla speed controller, makes life a lot easier, forwards/ reverse/jog variable speed etc ! Also the mig is just out of sight & saw table! Plus a mass of sticks , but carnt show that cause Old Boggy might get shank envy! It really was just a dumping ground now going to get used....also at some point would like to fit a wood lathe as well...
Gordon R
So, so tidy. Totally alien to me. I tidied mine up a couple of months ago, but junior has managed to dump the odd Mac Tools stack and a whole lot more, until he sells it. I’m already envious of the space that you’ve made available, but more so of that lathe. Always wanted one, but just haven’t got the room at the moment without a massive re-organisation of the shed. If only I’d taken notice when told to think of a size of shed, then double it. Oh go on, let’s have a photo of all those sticks. OB

I have a wood lathe , sadly , it's more of an ornament , because I don't think that I'll ever find the time to use it 😢. 6 hours ago, Old Boggy said: I’m already envious of the space that you’ve made available, but more so of that lathe. Thanks but the likelihood of visiting your lovely part of the world is pretty unlikely, although that would keep me busy for a few years...... if I’m spared ! Gordon R
Mine has sadly sunk into this mess. Not helped by my youngest dumping a Mac Tool stack in front of two other full up tool stacks. I tripped over a Record 39p vice yesterday. weighs about half a hundredweight and needs to go, along with a whole lot more. Had no success giving spanners away. boo
For Mel , the little Myford , been handy ! Chopsaw in , belt sander & thicknesser under the bench now , the old lamps , torches & block planes future projects ! Gordon, never have to many vices & spinners! Overall , before you couldn't even move with **** ! Looking better, Chris cut shanks, ash, hazel, blackthorn & holly/chestnut, ones in the roof, cut last year ... Gordon R
That is excellent - somewhere you can actually work. My workspace is becoming smaller - overtaken by storage. As for never having too many - I have have probably over 1000 spanners and sockets - in claw hammers - 2 Eswing vinyl handle, 1 Eswing leather handle, 1 Eswing Surestrike, 1 Stanley Fatmax and 1 Hultefors - let alone lump, engineers and bodywork hammers. Rob85
I would post a picture of my workshop but health and safety would probably have me publicly flogged
Gordon R
I am very impressed with the working areas. I am probably a bit sad, but look at other people's garages with real interest. Always look at layout, equipment, make of tools, what ideas can I borrow etc.

That is serious stickmaking there Boo. You`ve got plenty of shafts, antler and buffalo horn there to keep you going for a while. Many thanks for posting, but not for making me very jealous of your workshop I went out yesterday to a little wood near me to have the odd shot at pigeons but mainly to cut some hazel and a couple of blackthorn that I`d spotted on a previous shooting foray, but was distracted by some pigeons feeding on some late drilled wheat nearby, so a quick nip home for hide and net etc. so I`ve still to get cutting more sticks. I did end up with 17 pigeons, so not entirely wasted. Regards the wooden planes, I`ve always thought the large ones were called `Jack` planes and the smaller stubby ones `Block` planes, but I may be wrong. Still got one of my old Dad`s `Jack` planes. Lovely old things. Thanks again for posting, OB
mel b3
that lathe is pure shed porn . i wouldnt have the foggiest idea what id make if i had one , but i dont think that i can survive much longer without one , im also getting the same urge for a mini digger , i feel less of a man for not having one . ps, i probably have enough room left in my shed to accommodate a box of matches.
