WalkedUp
Fantastic, for me buffalo just has a natural beauty that is really showcased in those lovely forms and workmanship.
Walker570
The usual shoddy workmanship I see Quite a few water buffs in this country now, is that horn not good enough? I like the contrast as well.

nobbyathome
really nice work there boo i am quite envious of your talent i am just a beginner in stickmaking but i love using buffalo horn it polishes up so good i do agree it is getting harder to get hold of most for sale are to thin or hollow thanks for posting the sticks
Scully
Fabulous work! Seriously nice work. I always think that the prices some sticks sell for are nowhere near a reflection of the hours put into them. Was going to treat myself to a new one ( have several already ) for this coming season at a game fair, but there weren’t any last year and it looks like there won’t be again this year. Very nice work.
boo
Cheers , everyone, just sealed the shanks , except the stripped one , going to leave for a bit , see if it oxidises , turns a bit yellow , match the spacers , when last of the buffalo I have rus out , will have to turn into more rams horn in the future, will see what happens.. It's not a bad hobby to have... First stick i ever made 3 years ago....I went out on a limb and did a 5 spacer set up: brass, buffalo, ox , cow bone, brass. But I hadn't tried a 'BOO' joint until this one. I think the angle is too steep. Whoops, just found pic buffalo brass gone brass buffalo

Very nice work. Totally agree there Scully. Boo's workmanship is second to none and not surprising the number of hours put into each stick. His work far exceeds some of the sticks seen at various shows. With the number of sticks that he has now made, he could well set up a stall himself. Thanks for posting Boo and continue making us all envious of your talent. OB
boo
Cheers ! Getting there but still room for improvement, I've just made some casting resin up with different pigments , hopefully cure ok , hopefully going to make spacers for next lot of buffalo I do , if goes to plan be a bit funky ! boo
Resin turned out OK, let it fully harden off , be some interesting spacers ! Not very traditional
Diver One
Where did you source the resin and pigments from?
boo
Previous resin off amazon , tried some off Axminster tools , resin & pigments , moulds also off amazon , just pop out

boo
This was resin left in the bottoms of the mixing beakers , I faced it off on the lathe and centre drilled it , now fitted & glued up onto a couple of buffalo tops , bit of an experiment, bit different, if you look at one of the tops it's got a delam/crack init , not visible before shaping ! Maybe more yet ! If paying £20-30 plus now for buffalo horn you still carnt guarantee what's inside it.
boo
Just fettled it up , meant to be purple , looks more blue , shame the horn has a delam on the other side ,as the actual horn has a smokey grey colour , think I'm going to have to lacquer this one to seal it up , shame really
boo
Second experiment, this one has a bronze/ copper colour, I think it suits the dark hazel nicely, in the light it's a bit 3d , with the swirls in the resin , going to do a few more variants now , see what works best . boo
been busy , actually sticked out , going to have a break , resin experiment think was a success, made a double bronze spacer, on a nose out buffalo on a dog rose briar , I've danished it & waxed it didn't want a gloss finish, the other is using green spacers on a buffalo crook , on hazel , just finishing that one up ! Having a break now, hope you enjoyed, ta....
