Hello, has there been any news of any of the people registered in UK to give a home to any Ukrainians been successful ?? That is with no family ties in UK ??

Lin has just this minute read a reply following our offer of a room for a refugee . The reply was basically . We've had 200,000 offers of places , and 25,000 have applied for visas .

Hello Mel, that's interesting, maybe the Ukrainians  find the UK to far away from family on the border countries, if the war goes on I can see many more apply to UK, it's heartbreaking to see what the Ukrainians are going through, I can see it may take many many years for them to return but what to, most homes and buildings in the east are gone, now the women and children have to contend with traffickers, let alone those 1000s taken to Russia, Putin and his commanders  should be hanged for their crimes,

I find it heartbreaking as well Gordon.  I'm not sure if our offer of a room will ever be taken up . Hopefully it'll never be needed , but  I would imagine that as time goes on , much more help would be needed . Most Ukrainians will want to go home , but as you've already said , they won't have a home to go back to.

We have had an offer of a mother and older son that did not fit for our room on offer. We have recently had a request to see if there are a grouping of rooms in the village so that a number could be accommodated. There is also a mother that has moved in to the village and an approach has been made to her to see if she knows of others that might want to come.

The Govt is doing it's best to make it as hard a process as possible.

I had faith that although the government might be a bit slow out of the blocks , they'd soon get up to speed , and help would soon be offered to those in need . I was also in favour of robust security checks (although I know that this may be easier said than done at the moment) , but , it would appear that the government are being deliberately unhelpful /obstructive at the moment. I really hope that the government gets its act together soon.

The security checks are a complete joke. If you are a rusky agent you simply get a passport made and fly over.

I cant see how the Govt's position is tenable given the numbers.

I really don't get it. Our immigration and asylum laws need a massive injection of common sense. It's heart breaking to see genuine refugees left to fend for themselves, particularly when there's people like you and Mel making it so easy for the government to help.

We are taking in thousands off illegal migrants every month we don't not have the infrastructure to take in anymore.

This is my take on it to.

Like I said earlier in the thread, how many Ukrainians who could have otherwise come here, will now not due to the crazy numbers of economic migrants who have taken available bed spaces, stretched finances and resources, public services and caused the UK electorate to grow weary of having this country ls hospitality abused.

Unfortunately the idiots who've allowed it to happen will never admit to being responsible, much less change it.

Hello, it is Mel, army will be helping on the polish border, it's going to be a slow process, there again it seem such a hassle with the application forms many Ukrainians won't bother not including those with no passport which many could not get as their home are just rubble,

I just don't understand any of this uncontrolled immigration or this climat carp route we are on?

Where is common sense and reason, certainly not in the anus of power? The fools will bankrupt the country and walk away with expenses and fat pension as reward for this instead of seeing the inside of a prison cell for treason?

That offence has probably been removed from the books to allow such actions?

But we are where we are, destroyed from within?

Hello, listening to a sky TV interview with another MP Conservative ?? Were doing a great job in the issue of visas but we need some control on applications on who we allow in to UK ??, Does anyone think a terrorist would be hiding within the Ukrainian community ??, Oh and local council officials  will need to assess every accomodation put forward by kind hearted UK residents ??

Hello, things are looking much better now with more visas granted and coming to the UK under the rehoming scheme , any news for you Mel and Lin ??

We've still heard nothing here Gordon.

It's looking like our plans might change anyway . Lins dad had a car crash last Saturday , and he's still in hospital at the moment,  with a fractured sternum . It looks very much like he'll be coming to live with us when he gets out . He can't really walk at the moment,  but we don't know yet if that'll be permanent,  or temporary.

Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.  A colleague had that from a motor accident many years ago and I believe very painful, but a full recovery made.

Cheers John.

He's in an awful lot of pain , even with the morphine.  The main problem is his age ( 87 I think) , as he was already getting unsteady on his legs.

Saw GB News and Farage yesterday interviewing a chap who had a seriously nice home on offer for the refugees. The local council had turned him down for some very petty reasons. I am sure if I was a refugee from Ukraine at the moment I would have jumped at the chance to stay there.  Clip Board Council idiots again....Lambeth I believe so that says it all.
