And at 66 1/2 I've just been told I'm type 2 diabetic

At about 63 I was told I was 'pre diabetic' type 2 - and my options were to carry on and I would almost certainly become type 2 in a year or two, or loose some weight (about 10% to get my BMI down from a little over 25 to below 24) and modify my diet, take more exercise etc. and I had chance of reversing the high readings.

I lost about 10% OK and have 'improved' my diet (though still manage to eat a bit of most things) and my sugars (at now 65 1/2) are back within normal limits.

It is a constant 'watching brief' on weight and diet now, but so far I have managed to at least delay onset, hopefully keep it away for good.

Never knew I was pre diabetic

went for bloods before Xmas as part Of my ongoing cancer kerfuffle. Blood sugar was a bit high "but well keep an eye on it, come back in 9 months"

went back in September, another blood test. Levels too high (55 cut off is 53) BUt I should have been given a second appointment before Christmas and another blood test .  Doctors FORGOT.

on the plus side went for my annual 🇯🇵 👁Camera check on Tuesday and got another "clear' 😁

Doesn't sound like can't be bothered food, but I have a fish fillet/loin. There's always fish in the fridge or freezer. Coat in something tasty and probably unhealthy and cook in the pan hot and fast. If it's white fish, cook through. If it's something with red meat like tuna, I'll sear it. Usually have a sliced avocado on the side. Whole lot doused in sriracha or Japanese mayonnaise. I'll have this every day of the week if home alone.

A big tray of good quality Bacon cooked in the bottom of the arga until crispy , bacon cooked in beef dripping.

Crusty door step either side of bacon and dipped in hot left over beef dripping while you eat it as it has picked up flavour of cooked bacon ?

dipped in red or brown sauce if you're a southerner !!!

how else could you have chip butty as well

We cheated a bit today Simon and had our dinner out along the coast , the meal consisted of a piece of Skate well done for the good lady, and a middle piece of Cod well done for me with one lot of chips from Mary Janes in Cromer, nothing to extravagant but easily the best fish and chips we have had since we last went to the same fish and chip shop in the early Summer , the only slight downside was it started to rain while we sat on the bench overlooking the pier and we had to make haste back to the motor .:good:

I bought 2 tins of Tesco chilli con carne as a stand by. Tried one the other day, pure filth so will dump the other one

and continue to make my own in future..

Chilli is one of those things that everyone likes it a bit different.  I was asked to a 'chilli meal' at an ex Army colleagues many years ago.  He had spent a lot of time serving overseas and I was slightly worried (even though I do like a fairly hot curry) I would be served a real 'scorcher'.

In fact - it turned out a bit like minced beef with kidney beans.  No heat at all!

Others I have had have a lot of chipotle making them very smoky in flavour .....  others put in dark chocolate ........ lots of variety.
