Wymondley
I've seen vehicle wiring totally destroyed by mice, I don't know what it is about it they love. Cats are the best way to control them. If you know anyone with a cat, get some used cat litter and leave some around where you park it. It does have a deterrent effect. RyanMc
Peppermint oil helps deter them. They love to eat modern wiring as its apparently got vegetable oils in the coating, don't quote me 100% on that! Traps set with Nutella on the bait pad, they love the stuff and can't get it off without setting the trap off. Bucket of water, a ramp and a roller over the top with Nutella works too, they fall in and no resetting etc. bucket mouse trap at DuckDuckGo

Your nearly as silly as me, but to be honest that's also how I read it and was going to post something similar but you beat me to it. Or is it a case of great minds think alike. chesterse
Goodnature traps are very good but expensive. I’ve been catching one or two mice a night through the winter with one.
B725
Give it good spray with WD40 apparently mice don't like it and it can't hurt the wiring
