Come on Starmer. We need change. Let's hope its for the better.

It has to be on the agenda to get a better relationship with the EU. Our economy is pretty much finished without it.

It has to be on the agenda to start training and trying to get a strong foothold into green industries.

We know tax needs to increase to pay for the crumbling state of the countries services.

A greater emphasis on energy generation has to be welcomed.

What's not to like from Starmers plans?

Lots of preperation has gone into positioning Starmers team to make a flying start. The work they have all done with the civil service teams under the guidance of Sue Grey is to  applauded. All the prep and all the groundwork is there.

The question is can he deliver and how long can he / they hold the line.

Better relationship with EU:- we tried that before we left, they're a unelected gangster organisation and can't be reasonably bargained with, we need to move away from them, not get closer.

Tax rises:- there are millions of hard working people up and down the uk who's households are already held together by a shoestring thanks to the damage Blair and his cronys did the last time. People can't afford a tax rise, infact taxes need to come down drastically.

We need better trade to pay for increasing costs. Increasing EU trade does not have to mean getting into bed. It just means a sensible adult convo without the Tory hang ups.

The tax rises are inevitable who ever gets in. People chose the tories last time around and like covid they have to be paid for.

Interesting that the London stock exchange overtook Paris for the first time in two years. In part because of Labour's positioning and in response to le Pens unfunded election proposals. All a far cry from the Liz Truss tory disaster that lost market confidence that we are still paying for.

Do you honestly believe the Tories don't want to have a conversation with the EU about trade?it's a two way street and the EU have shown they are going to make it difficult for the UK because they dared to leave

Already making excuses for the tax rises that labour say they won't do, maybe if governments were not so inept at using our money we wouldn't need tax rises, labour are well known for their spending and we all know they will tax us more

The stock exchange was nothing to do with labour,or le pen, it was in response to the figures produced saying we are moving in the right direction, very slowley, but we are doing better that almost all of Europe.

Take your blinkers off, starmer is a chancer and a con man , he will say whatever he thinks will get him in power, he was a staunch supporter of Corbyn, until he saw his chance and stabbed him in the back.starmer has done more u turns than a London black cab,he is evasive when asked about taxes, and to cap it all he's not even sure what a woman is!

You want to know how good it will get under labour, come live in Wales, but don't get cancer as you have a better chance of dying than someone in England, that is if you manage to get an appointment, every aspect of what the labour government has done in Wales is a disaster.

left wing blinkers don't come off so you've wasted your time there and as far as trying to educate them, best of luck with that as they've also got their fingers in their ears shouting NAR,NAR,NAR,NAR,NAR,NAR!

I wonder if we'll get another referendum, despite the toolmakers son saying labour have no plans to rejoin EU ?
My money is on not , just rail road us back in.

Is that even legal?  Even if it is; once in power I predict Sue Gray will inevitably do a 'Barnard Castle' (rules for thee not for me) and she will become toxic.

I'll keep saying it: The architect of the UK's current disastrous energy generation policy is Ed Miliband.  Yes, the Tories have done sweet FA to it other than tinker at the edges in 14 yrs, but I couldn't think of a worse person to put in charge energy than Ed Miliband.  What is Starmer thinking?

Thats a very good question, is it an admission that labour have been meddling/influencing the civil service to the detriment of the tories ?

The opposition has access to the civil service for some time before an election - so as to smooth the edges off any change in government. Its perfectly normal practice.

What do you call some time ? The election was only announced 3 weeks ago, and oowee specifically mentioned Sue Gray.

She has consistently been found to be untrustworthy, and capable of corrupt practices.

It's discretionary - you can read about it in the below link in far more detail than I can go into.

Sue Gray works for the Labour Party now, so i'm sure it seems to be a very sensible way of doing things from their perspective.

Sue is awesome. I would vote her for PM if possible. Or come to that my old mentor Bob Kerslake. Who used to say the choice is very rarely this or that. Let's find a different way.

Politics would be so much more efficient if running the country was left to the technocrats. 👍

Way too many skeletons in her cupboard for that to happen.

Presumably only if they were left leaning technocrats ?

Bodies don't decompose that quickly.  She even made Lindsay Hoyle cry.  Allegedly.

"Sue is awesome"?????? If she was any good, how come she didn't sort the Civil Service out whilst she was in it?

We need to spend the taxes more wisely, rather than raising them. Bit like the NHS - Labour's answer - throw more money at it. Scrap foreign aid. Make India pay for it's own space programme.

Now that, is the question.

You see , if the civil service would have carried out its remit, passed to it by the tory government, MAYBE the country wouldnt be in such a mess, and we wouldnt be staring down the barrel of  a labour government with the greyest man since John Major at the helm now.
