London Best
The old Winchester ‘GB’s were a very good cartridge. Loaded in Italy I believe.

After 100 Trap or Skeet, I would be bruised for a week. Did 100 sporting today with a mix of 24 and 28 gram Fiocchi cartridges, never as much as felt it. With ported barrels and an Isis recoil pad, hardly felt the gun go off. I know which I prefer 😆 I was looking at a box full of AA's 32 gram whilst cleaning my gun. redial
Those bruises were a good indicator although uncomfortable of gun mount. My shoulder and arms used to be pebble dashed indicating poor gun mount but still miss the old Double AA Trap.

I shot loads of the standard 32g cartridges at clays from 1983 onwards, Winchester AA were a particular favourite. 9 hours ago, redial said: Those bruises were a good indicator although uncomfortable of gun mount. But I was in my mid twenties then ! 😄 10 hours ago, redial said: Those bruises were a good indicator although uncomfortable of gun mount. In the early 1980's I bought a Westley Richards and had it fitted by the makers. As a game gun, I could not have bettered it. It weighs 6lbs. 3ozs. and I have shot 32 gram through that without noticing any recoil.

giro
The Winchester were loaded until two years ago by Baschieri & Pellagri in Bologna. Today they are loaded by Nobel Sport, I think in Rivalta Scrivia. Piedmont, Northern Italy.

enfieldspares
I use RC Professional Game which are 28 gram, suitable for 2 1/2" chamber 12 bore, Italian #7 which is English 6 1/2 size. Not quite exactly the same as the sadly missed Winchster GB but still in a red plastic case! Having said that for the last day of last season I went and revisted my late father's "go to" pheasant load of 1 1/8 ounce English #5 which certainly folds these large birds dead in the air. https://shootingstarcc.co.uk/cartridges/rc/professional-game/ Edited September 25 by enfieldspares

Would you expect to get friction from ANY current shotgun, all of which have one form of rubber pad fitted by the manufacturers ? I have never seen a shooter burst into flames yet, but I suppose there is a first for everything ! Until you have experienced the virtues of an Isis pad, which I have, it is hard to explain their recoil dampening qualities. I have a collection of different recoil pads, including those claimed to 'eeze' recoil.......they don't.
