Glenshooter
I dont agree with supporting your local gunshop-mine would be the Oxford Gun Company. Every time ive left there i feel like ive been mugged-never again.I now use stockraft in stoney stratford-not the cheapest but the best service ive ever experienced. While it is not my local shop, I am in Oxford Gun Company nearly every week - shooting there at weekends - or at least my lad does. The folk there are great, IMO. Funny how perceptions differ. They do good deals on Brownings and I didn't think there were many shops cheaper - but, you can try the gun on their sporting layout before you buy - which clinched it for me when I was buying a shotgun. Baldrick
For me it has to be Trulock and Harris in Suffolk, or Eastern Sporting. I rely on Jason Harris for all my gunsmithing needs, and find his work to be excellent.
Peter De La Mare
Essex Gun are really good imho. They have tons of stock and a broad range of carts. 400 guns at most times.
willy1
John Forsey Guns in Welling,Kent are my choice, they have given me good service on many occasions, unlike Countryway in West Malling.
Mungler
bought both my guns from Alan Some great advice It's not so much the advice but the fact he's not a miserable *** unlike so many of the other local gun shop owners Nice bloke, cheery and all too happy to help; most rare qualities for any gunshop owner I think you will agree. Dibs
Another vote for Eastern Sporting. Bought a few guns from Alan and always a pleasure to deal with him. Remains my first stop for everything. Alot of his stock - Musto, Chameau boots etc is as cheap as you will find on the internet. He just needs to get a coffee machine and it would be a perfect coffee stop during the working week.
Chard
I like Bamfords in Eccleston as well Always been good to me, but it's a bit of a trot from here. For that reason I usually get my cartridges at Branthwaites in Cheadle - very fair prices
GW80
I always use my local dealer, i always get good customer service, a bit of craic and know i'm not getting screwed over, i have only bought 1 gun elsewhere and that was the only time i had a bad experience of any dealer, my rfd might not be the cheapest around at times but i have built up a good relationship and trust them, which means a lot in my book!! covlocks
My rated best is the Country Store nr Coleshill. Plenty of time for you, and always a friendly face. Kibworth Gun Shop is very good - the Kibworth Airgun Store is mediocre Godiva Guns Coventry - a pile of poo. No guns in stock worth a carrot and an attitude that matches the dump that the place is. Tried them all - not third hand info Edited June 22, 2009 by covlocks
Horrocks
My current favourite would be Eastern Sporting , Gt Baddowhttp://www.easternsporting.com/ I'd back that, eastern sporting are the best i know around here....

JonnyR
Why not just use the most local shop and become a "regular" customer, that way you may get discount there and a cuppa etc. on a rainy day when things are slow. My local sourced a T3 for me at same price as the best deal I could find in the UK, I supplied them with Jay wings when they were short of them and demand was high and in return I got my scope at cost........ I agree with henry d, find one who treats you right then foster that relationship. Its all very well having a huge stock under one roof but if you live 200+ miles from it, you are not going to spend much time there!
Chicane
Whatever you do - dont go to Francis Lovell. Customer service is absolutely shocking! Wanted to spend £2500 on a new gun and they ignored me - i called 4 times and drove to witney which is about an hour and half away and they sold the gun that I was interested in. Best gun shop would be Greenfields in Salisbury...

hendersons
I only use two guns shops now country pursuits in cricklade wiltshire and glos gun co barnsley near cirencester. Both have friendly people running them and the advice they have given me in recent months has helped me no end. Prices are good and can pretty much get anything I need between the two of them. Alistair at glos gun has been particuarly good nick (p.s. Al if you read this thats got to be worth 10% )
maddog546
I agree with supporting your local man, mines Charlie Cole at Kernow Guns in Foxhole mid Cornwall, the chap is a busy man as he has a full time job and tries to run his gun business aswell. If you contact him and say you need something in a hurry he is always willing to obligue,be it a Sunday morning or late into the evening and as we all have full time jobs not having to take time off work helps.Mind you I work for myself but that still means I might not be able to get there till late. I took a shooting friend there on Christmas eve to get a replacement Scope for his stalking rifle as he was away to Scotland for a weeks shooting and had had an accident with his scope,Charlie managed to find Tikka mounts and install a new scope and after a while my friend left able to zero his rifle and enjoy his trip. Superb service at times to suit you if he can. Top man
Peter De La Mare
Always a welcoming smile when you walk through the door as well I get one, probably due to my spectacular interpersonal skills allowing me to engage with others on their terms rather than imposing or demanding a certain level of interaction. babka3487
Good - York Guns, sold me my first guns and gave me excellent customer service, lots in stock Brown's Lock Stock and Barrel (Sheffield), my local, very friendly staff and also run my local round of sporting Awful - Hardy's (Sheffield), I've seen bad customer service before but this is one of the only places where staff have actually been rude to me Cartridges are more expensive than everywhere else. game_boy
Best gun shop? What ever one is prepared to do me a deal and recognise the fact that i'm potentially going to spend a good wad of cash in their shop. If I don't get a good impression then I'm out the door. Which I did in the last couple of months resulting in my local one loosing out in £1k's worth of business. Breastman
Weldon Gun Room in Northumberland for me, everyone in there including the young lads seem to know what they're talking about. Plus it didn't hurt that they threw in a load of bits and bobs when i bought my last gun from there Hopefully i'll get the same when i order my Supernova . . . .
