  1. Everything about Bisley is getting dearer. I'm paying £30 an hour to shoot on the rifle range (electronic targets) and its a bit solitary just sitting there on your own. its lockdown But compare the cost to playing golf. Membership in the thousands and £70 plus for a game
  2. Film everything and keep it. You never know when or how it might prove useful.
  3. Harmless enough, live and let live. Its funny how there are recurring themes with these people. Cats or dogs being one, preoccupation with the natural world is another, sometimes hoarding and being naked outdoors is about being free of worldly incumberances. Every village had one years ago
  4. Peugeot are a bit naughty about the availability of spares for cars over ten years old. They just delist them, obviously thats their policy 1.6 engines are bombproof, electrics are weak Agree with GingerCat you will never go far wrong with a Honda Jazz
  5. Better to have quality than quantity
  6. It is their worst case scenario but I can see that it could be possible. I have been listening with some disbelief to the discussions about kids returning to school and all the details like using one door to go in and another door to exit etc. Nobody seems to be talking about the journey to school. In the London boroughs all school kids get free bus travel, not just to school but all the time. In the mornings and afternoons the buses are absolutely rammed with school kids. Whats the point in going to all that trouble in school when the kids get there packed like sardines on a bus?
  7. Its well worth the drive for a couple of tubs (and how long that will last him? ) compared to the time and effort that will be wasted starting all over from scratch Caernarfon to R-C-T is not that far. One A road virtually all the way. I've driven further for things
  8. A lot of the Spanish trawlers have already said they cannot stop fishing in British waters after Brexit. Its not possible for them to catch enough fish to pay their way anywhere further south. Their whole business model involves not only fishing in British waters but blatantly exceeding their legal quotas many times over. Its not possible to run a boat that big for that many days out at sea by only catching what they are supposed to be catching. But when they get back to their home port no questions are asked about where all this fish has come from Every body knows it, the Cornish fishermen have been complaining for years but we only have three fishery protection vessels. Averagely two at sea at any time. With mobile phones that work at sea now the position of those two fishery protection vessels is known to all the foreign trawlers in British waters all the time. So the deterrent factor is zero. No British trawlers fish in Spanish waters so its hardly a reciprocal arrangement
  9. Actually mumsnet is allegedly "owned" by the same subversive hard left marxist thinktank that owns extinction rebellion and black lives matter. Originally called the International Marxist Group, it has many names, the Socialist League being one of many.
  10. USA is about third biggest navy in the world, Britain is way down the list, after Brexit is finally done our Navy is going to be busy keeping hundreds of French, Spanish, Dutch and Danish trawlers from illegally fishing in our waters. Its going to be a war.
  11. Croatia the R rate is 1.74 at the moment. The locals are pretty moderate in the way they behave so it has to be the tourists that's driving it up. I heard today there is a local spike in Merthyr allegedly attributed to people who have returned from holidays abroad. Not wishing to denegrate my former neighbours in Merthyr but I can so easily believe that
  12. No you are fundamentally wrong in what you say. WE don't allow them to come, THE FRENCH allow them to come. Lets not lose sight of that very important fact We are being shafted by the French and they are loving it. If the French were doing what they were supposed to do the migrants wouldn't be sitting in Calais in the first place
  13. Don't think all these things haven't already been tried over and over again,, its not something new its been going on for more than fifty years, All the ideas you put forward have already been explored to death. and many more besides. France won't take them back, no way, no how. I can't see that changing any time soon. The problem is France
  14. You can't make people board a ferry against their will and endanger the public. What if they kick off on the ferry? what if they refuse to get off? Which they will do Besides which they stink from living in the camps
  15. The border with canada is not tight there are thousands of miles where there is no physical border at all. But Canadians and US citizens have free access both ways
  16. The French will not let them off the Ferry and one hour later they will be back in Dover. The Ferry company is a private business and cannot be involved in knowingly carrying illegal passengers. The French are smart, they have the upper hand and they know it.
  17. My uncle always decoyed pigeons with his .22RF. He said a pigeon wasn't worth the cost of a shotgun cartridge. He was a real country man cost was everything but he was good at what he did. He chose his spot so he had rising ground behind the shot and took them on the ground. A 22 RF can (sometimes) take one pigeon on the ground without putting up the others. My uncle never kept the pigeons he just sliced off the breast meat and put it in a plastic bag. This was Warwickshire fifty odd years ago, the pigeons just kept coming in endlessly, you never see that these days. I put some of that down to the lack of disturbance caused by the 22. Then as the evening drew in the rabbits would appear along the hedgerows. No matter how many were out he only took two Happy memories
  18. Have you tried just phoning them Steve? I think with my FEO I could probably change it with a photo on my phone of the new serial number. and an email explaining what happened.
  19. There is a good book, The man who ate his boots. They recently located one of Franklin's ships on the sea bed, the evidence now is that had they stayed on the ship they may have survived. Well, some of them anyway.
  20. We export a lot of horses to France every year for them to eat
  21. The canoeist was supposedly missing at Taff's Well, thats a good twenty miles inland and though it will be up because of the rain its not normally any thing more than a big stream at that point. Tom Jones commented on it saying that when he was a boy growing up in Treforest the river Taff ran black but its cleaned up now and salmon have "allegedly" been seen but not by me The search appears to have been stood down now
  22. My friend's wife is rumoured to have asked him "when you finish shooting cant you pick up the bullets so you don't have to keep buying more?"
  23. Its a classic and a social documentary of the time it was made.. It tells the story of something thats history now but was real at the time.
  24. The book Rambo first Blood was actually a very good and thought provoking book about how America abandoned its PTS damaged Vietnam veterans as an inconvenient problem to be brushed under the carpet and denied them their legal rights When I was living in Upstate New York years ago lots of drunk drivers and people arrested for minor street crimes or vagrancy had been in Vietnam because they used their exemplorary discharge record as a sort of character reference in court. A damaged generation
  25. No matter how bad it gets, if you have a job hang on to it, even if it means a big pay cut. This coming winter is going to be brutal we haven't even seen the worst yet. A jobs a job at the moment.
