  1. That happens all the time round here in North London and I do mean all the time. Its build first and argue about it later. Most of the time the council ends up by giving in. I can tell you exactly what will happen now. Mr Singh will go missing. He has "gone back to India on holiday". So the council will end up dealing with his brother, his nephew, or his son. Who will be very polite and "try to get a message to him". But if the council cant serve papers on him (AND HIM ALONE) within two years they will be very unlikely to be able to enforce the order Thats the trouble, all the Land Registry have is a name for the registered owner of any property and the address. They don't have a clue who the person actually is

    Das Boot.

My Dad was on a Destroyer during WW2 doing the Atlantic Convoys. He told me that once they had been at sea for 48 hours there wasn't a dry place or person on the whole ship. Sea water sloshing about on the mess deck when they ate their meals and once it got too rough then no hot food either.
  3. There is everything you need on the internet but we dont follow the recipes because most recipes want you to mix rye flour 50/50 with wheat flour and the whole purpose of us making it is for it to be wheat free. Also the Germans tend to add molasses which gives it a very distinctive flavour, not unpleasant but not to everybody's taste. In Germany it is a meal in its own right with a bit of cheese
  4. Most of the top level Rugby Clubs in UK have ladies team now and some of the players are professionals in their own right. They benefit from proper coaching A few years ago it was all a bit of a joke. Even the National squads were picked from Sunday players. Women's football, rugby and cricket is really taking off. The TV companies love it because its cheap to show compared to mens sports. It will continue to grow
  5. I believe the duty is applied by Border Agency at the point of import but its only done by a low grade clerk sitting at a screen who has no idea what the item is or what it's worth. Sometimes I think they filter out the low value invoices to ease the workload.
  6. Macron is a chancer and always has been. A classic example of voting for the face rather than his policies. Le Pen is one of many right wing politicians who align with Putin
  7. Earrings for men are so last century. Along with flairs and mullets
  8. If it is semi auto as described it is section 5
  9. I use the M25 all the time, I was on it yesterday. Its by far the best way of getting around London. The idea that the M25 is a carpark is largely a myth. Any motorway has its holdups and any motorway around a major city is going to be busy. The M6 is worse in my opinion
  10. even during WW2 losses among tank crews was very heavy
  11. As a North Londoner born and bred I wouldn't have gone that way from Stoke Newington to the M40. I would have come straight back out due north up the A10 and gone round the M25. There is a massive difference between shortest route and easiest route. I get the same problem in Cornwall if I trust the satnav it wants to drag me off the A roads down tiny farm tracks and winding lanes alll the time. Simply because it's shorter in terms of distance doesn't mean its the quicker route
  12. Strangely, since the new fuel came in my average mpg has actually gone up by about 0.4 mpg but I think that's down to the way I drive it ( I do a lot of motorway driving now) Driving style apparently makes a huge difference to fuel consumption
  13. I believe the ANPR cameras will flag you up as having failed an mot to the police.
  14. Yes they tightened up the law a few years ago when crooks were doing it in an underhand way and basically scamming people out of property. However if a piece of land or a building has never been registered as having an owner with the Land Registry and can be shown to be derelict it's still possible
  15. When you wake up in the morning and everything is stiff except the bit that always used to be
  16. She has made millions already from other friends of Epstein who would rather pay her hush money than meet her in court. She hardly comes out of this looking like a victim does she?
  17. I bet you anything that property is classified as unregistered at the land registry. Thousands of old properties have never been registered for different reasons If that's the case anybody can try to claim it and it's quite legal if they go about it the right way. They have to be able to show they have "occupied" it for a number of years. Keeping bees or a goat on the land used to be favourite. It qualifies as occupation First you go to a solicitor and get them to witness an affidavit saying you intend to occupy the property. This registers the starting date. Then the really sneaky ones would turn up from time to time with a couple of bee hives or a goat. Take some photos and then clear off again. Only staying for less than an hour They were careful to get the photos printed at a place that stamped the date on the back. The boots labs used to do this. Then however many years later, armed with their affidavit and their date stamped photos they could apply for the courts to award them title to the property. People made fortunes, doing it to multiple "abandoned " properties or parcels of land at the same time. It looks to me very much like somebody is after making a claim on your neighbour's property
  18. Looks like somebody is trying to claim the property by adverse possession. If they can prove they have kept chickens there for seven years (even if its only off and on) they can claim legal occupation and register it as their own. Its still very common in Wales. It used to be known as squatters rights but it's a bit more difficult these days. Still possible though
  19. My step daughter, health care professional with good credit history and no debts and my wife , NHS pensioner with huge assets wanted to open a joint account to pay the bills on a new property we had bought cash Turned down about three or four times. Halifax, santander not interested in opening a new account
  20. It might yet end up with him in court
  21. What an idiot. That was a huge mistake, live on worldwide TV. Bad PR image that will be with him for the rest of his life. And if he didn't like that joke he wont like the millions of jokes about him that are going to follow. "You wouldn't have said that to Will Smith........." etc etc
  22. I don't know of a dealer round here that will do anything except offer you a commission sale
  23. His budget is very clearly targeted at getting to grips with the massive borrowing debts incurred during the pandemic. All the money for furloughing people and loans for businesses was borrowed That has to be paid off We (the world) are now entering a time of rising inflation and an energy crisis. Plus now a war in Ukraine. None of this is his fault nor has he any control over it. The one thing he can't do is carry on giving out free money to people. We have to live within our means, tough as that may be and I think its going to get tougher yet. Labour would just keep on borrowing more and more money, racking up the debt to buy popularity. Thats what they have always done
