  1. True (OF) - but it's never been run on Scrumpy before either.
  2. Shouting at the dog can be the worse thing to do - they assume that you are joining in the cacophony and simply bark louder

    Holiday fun

I still find it hard to believe that nobody has congratulated Mice on attempting shots at 8m - way beyond his normal comfort zone!!!
  4. A lot depends on your taste and how the burgers are cooked - you can make the cheapest Morrisons burgers taste like nectar on a BBQ if you know what you are doing or a local artisan £10/burger taste like poo if you cook it in the oven. A common misconception, for example, is that McDonals use cheap cuts in their burgers but that's not the case - with their buying power and risk to their reputation they only buy the best.
  5. 80 grains seems to stir a memory in my tiny mind so I guess that's what I used to use BP wise - 1 1/4 sounds about right too. I would still suggest that you start with a 1oz load and work your way up cos if you make a mistake it's going to be safer if you are not firing a heavy load. As a ROUGH guide - the plastic phials were about 3/4 full with the correct load in - till you have gained experience I would highly recommend that you use them thus keeping the main powder away from the gun when loading - they are anti static as well.
  6. OK - as far as I know (but I am more than happy to be corrected) your 777 is used in the same VOLUME as BP but not the same weight. This means that, if you find a good starting load for BP and use a powder measure that measures by volume, you can mirror image the BP load with your 777. Go for a square load and work your way up - pour 1oz of shot into a spent cartridge that has been cut down so it just holds the 1oz load - bit of trial and error with a stanley knife but will not take too long (beside BP guns are very forgiving) - you can then use said cut down cartridge to measure your 777. Once you have got used to having a dirty face and everybody looking at you thinking that you are suffering from wind you can start increasing your load/powder to where you want it, but different wad combinations can alter pattern density just as much as too much/little powder. If you load your powder into plastic phials (recommended) then sit somewhere quiet and concentrate.
  7. Sorry - both found a very good home now.
  8. Never used the stuff but I think 15% reduction, in weight, is about right so 1 1/4 load needs around 100 grains FFG BP so around 85 grains of 777 would be my guess.
  9. You are quite within your rights to do what you are already doing, in fact you sound like you know the ropes. If you are concerned then why not pop round the neighbours and explain - not everyone is an anti.
  10. OMG - the ONLY mower you will ever need - simply superb, any rough running normally due to dirt in the float bowl - undo the drain screw and let a cap full out and away you go for another year.
  11. You can pick up something like an Air Arms S200 multi for not too much money and with a Mod fitted they are very quiet - you could also sound proof your target area with carpet? Why is noise such a problem?Shooting in your garden is not illegal so why the cloak and dagger? You say that your current gun sounds loud - have you actually had complaints?
  12. Often use a .22lr with a mod for pigeons in my area where they are heavily shot at - decoys at 60-70 yards with the sun behind you if possible can be quite successful.
  13. I would buy the Annie over a BSA all day long - superb rifles.
  14. Isn't parallax the difference seen when viewing the same object but along 2 different lines of sight - not sure what 2 lines of sight are involved in clay shooting as your, single, master eye surely negates such phenomena?
  15. With the greatest respect - not brilliant groups for 50 yards. I would have thought that saving money by purchasing cheap ammo is not a wise decision - you owe it to your quarry to use the best performing round in your gun, not the cheapest. I would spend some time trying various rounds (if you are a member of a club, fellow members will often donate 10 rounds?) then stick to the ones best suited to your barrel - personally I swear by RWS HV HP although they can be hard to find.
  16. Beautifully written, the love you feel for your Mum is plain for all to see. Be there for you Dad and you may find comfort in helping others to come to terms with this very sad event. Bless her and may her God keep her well.
  17. The cast on most "economical" Spanish guns is negligible so if you are close by I would suggest you go and see how it shoulders - I'm a leftie but none of my 6 SxS's are .
  18. Ring around for a man with a van - maybe even 2.
  19. I just cannot get on with Hawke Stu - this is my favourite cheap old Nikko Stirling Gameking - superb for the money.
  20. Rather than spend a fortune on finding which pellet the beast likes best ,Ken (of North Bucks Range) spent some time with my new love and rang yesterday to reveal that H&N Field Target Trophy work best - I was dubious but guess what? This man knows his stuff - she pops them downrange like a Laser Beam, if you hold the crosshairs on the bull and ease the trigger back a full stop appears where the crosshairs meet time and time again - sublime.
  21. Got 900 grams (just under 2lbs) of FFG BP and a 1.5 ltr bottle of lead shot (god alone knows what it weighs!) going begging to anyone wanting to collect from MK area - relevant paperwork needed for BP - think the shot is a mix of 6 &7 .
  22. Stunning looking Dog - my heart goes out to you, unless you have experienced the highs and lows, the passion of hunting together and the undying love of a good dog then you have never felt the heavy pain of losing such a dear friend. Chin up - fill yourself up with Prednisolone and find a rescue Spaniel to bring new life into the house. If you dont have a Dog then you will be less likely to be active - not a wise choice.
  23. IMHO you should have had it removed within days of discovering the lump - time is vitally important when trying to prevent this disease spreading. Hope all goes well with the op - life's a **** when your best mate is ill.
  24. Would it be worth buying a cheap Fishing Rod / Roach Pole from a Car Boot and adapting that?
