If you are really concerned by condensation in your cabinet try the following.Insulate the cabinet from the floor by placing a plastic sheet underneath-this will stop water vapour forming on the base.Next you need to line the cabinet inside with polystyrene tiles once you have fixed it to the wall(a few on the wall behind it will help as well). The tiles can be fixed to most surfaces with blobs of silicone (not the type that melts it ).Once you've done this you need to look on the Bay for caravan dehumidifiers-for about £15 you can buy the ones that are permanently filled and simply need plugging in to the mains about once a month for the internal heater to dry them out-one of these will be sufficient to keep your guns bone dry when hung up inside.

i used to meet david jason quite often when walking my mates dog (he lives just outside Aylesbury)-such a charming and quiet man away from t.v. cameras and a million miles from del boy.Allways had time to chat if he was outside and spent hours talking about his motorbike.Only fools is a testiment to quality that our writers can produce and will make me laugh till the day i die.

these things were common when i were a lad-used to come with different colour tails on and were made, i think ,by milbro.Shooting them thru a rifled barrell is perhaps the quickest way to ruin your gun cos they are made of steel-nuff said.

crows are'nt generally hard to bring down and the 7.5 's that you mention will do the trick at a medium range. If theres a really large flock then the chances are that the're Rooks as crows only gather in large flocks when the weather turns bad-generally they remain solitary. The biggest problem i think you'll find is that the things are so ruddy smart-the crows in particular. If you can get inside buildings and the birds are using a few key routes to gain access then you might be better off with a decent airgun. If you can pin them to one specific spot then you might be lucky and have a good day or two but they learn real quick.Decoys outside might work but they have to be good as crows have superb eyesight and because of this your hide/camouflage will need to be perfect-it might even be worth trying to find a position where you can shoot with the sun behind you as crows seem to be affected by the sun quite badly.I have found that ,once in a while, you find a situation where corvids become less wary than normal and behave like kamikaze's-if you get such an opportunity then make the most of it and show no quarter-such times are few and far between. As for range-35 yards max in my opinion with at least 1/2 choke -good luck.

put me down for one-Bruno.

I'm with cranfeild on this one-if they simply are'nt returning then how can you be doing anything wrong?.There is so much food about at the moment that few feilds will hold their attention once they are put off.Do you know where the nearest roost is?-if you can get under it you might be in for a better time.

wipe tabasco sauce over the putty?

sold mine about 2 months ago and "upgraded" to a much newer 3.5 shogun-big mistake. These jeeps will pull the biggest caravans from standstill with no throttle!-brilliant cars but very under-rated.good luck with the sale -you must be gutted to have to see it go-bruno.

No warranty is not a problem-the makers warranty is pathetic compared to your consumer rights and is just a bonus.Call trading standards and they will tell you exactly how to proceed with the repair of your gun-the HW100 is not a cheap disposable item and should last a "reasonable time"-15 months is NOT reasonable and you have the Sale of goods act behind you.No matter what the supplier tells you he IS responsible for any fault that has occured unless he can prove that you have mis-used the gun. Please ring trading standards and listen to their advice.

My god-are'nt those knives on such a high shelf that, should they fall, they might harm someone?- i would suggest putting a fence around the area and posting a gaurd.

without wishing to sound harsh-if he can afford to spend 35k+ on a gun he is comfortable enough financially to pay for legal advice?
-
If you bought the gun new then return it to the retailer and tell them that you want the gun repaired or replaced. You may need to emphasise that you are not interested in any 1 year warranty that thay might try to hide behind but that under the sale of goods act the rifle is not fit for purpose as it has'nt lasted a "reasonable" period of time.Dont be fobbed off as many people are, the dealer is legally obliged to fix it free of charge unless he can prove neglect.

shot my longest range rabbit, airgun wise, with one of these (mine was a 335 "s") about 20 years ago-so accurate that it was boring! dont see many about now so could be a wise investment for the future?

I use the same response every time the **** bang on my door-"if you're selling it -i dont want it and if its for free then ive allready got one-now leave my property or i will charge you an entrance fee"-works a treat.By the way- a warning-if you ever sign up for anything at the door believing that you have a 14 day cooling off period then be warned that the **** have a way around it-if you show an interest with the caller he will say that you need to speak to his manager who is a couple of doors away (the other guy is doing the same thing with any interested party)-he will then call the other salesman over-if you agree to this then you are no longer protected by the cold calling regulations as you are deemed to have invited the second salesman onto your property-if you then sign a contract you will be legally obliged to honour it-you have been warned!

Bramble Vodka sounds good -anyone got a recipe quick cos i picked mine today and her indoors will waste em in a pie.

Am i missing something or is this a wind-up?-building a hide for rabbit shooting?-why would you waste your time?-you also mention that in low light you have difficulty seeing through the net-low light plus a net!-you must have the most nervous bunnies in the country if you require all this to kill a rabbit-i live about 8 miles from Wing and have never used a hide for bunnies in 30 years. As for how far from the hole the rabbit must be-2 or 3 metres?-as far as possible would be the best bet if you cant be certain of killing it cleanly in which case you should'nt of taken the shot.If you are going to shoot succesfully over a burrow you need to position yourself about 25 metres downwind and keep still-make sure your face is covered and be silent-when you take a shot you need a one shot one kill scenario and if the rabbit drops dead (as it should) then just leave it there till you pack up.The best tool for this job will always be a .22 rimfire with a silencer and sub sonic rounds-any airgun ,even a silenced pre-charge, are a bit on the loud side.p.s. you might want to try a pointed pellet as they make a little less noise on impact-every little helps.

I think that compassion and understanding is called for as the poor man is suffering.I think that no expense should be spared in finding him a comfortable home in which to see out his days-somewhere along Lockerbie high street would be good-maybe with his name over the door?

Its a well known fact that historically sloe gin can never be ready for christmas day-as it takes a minimum of 3 months to mature then sloes are normally harvested in october or even november. This year we have trees heavy with them since april!!!-they are still everywhete in Bucks. When you do locate them and make your nectar-try adding a tiny drop of almond essence -superb! ,good luck.

Dont think its really viable to make traps when they are so cheap on the bay.Get yourself 3 metal ones and pop down to your local fishmonger with a load of small plastic bags.Ask them for the heads/guts of any fish they sell and ask if they can freeze them so you can call whenever is convenient. You need about 5-8 metres of decent nylon rope to tie to the traps and something stout to attach the rope to the bank.Go to the water as late as possible to prevent people nicking your traps and visit them reasonably early the next day to achieve the same. The bait can be popped in the trap frozen where the scent as it defrosts will bring the things scurrying in to feed.Take a bucket with you to collect them and keep your fingers away!-once home i change the water to fresh and leave the crays to purge overnight.I know about 30 people who fish for crays all summer but i have yet to meet anyone who has a licence-make sure you have permmision from whoever has the fishing rights.I think that ,while free, the licence involves so much messing around that few people bother. As for not knowing if you have any locally im guessing that you have plenty-they live in anything from rivers to tiny streams and ponds. You could always ring the secretary of the fishing club and ask if they are plagued by the little ******* and if so would they object to you trapping them (most will not give you official permision but will just "look the other way" if they see you.)

Shot a black powder S/S 12g for about 10 years and loved every minute of it-i only sold it in the end cos i started pigeon shooting over decoys and the time taken to reload meant a lot of birds were lost. Its not a cheap hobby cos you need a powder flask/shot flask and a capper not to mention black powder (or modern equivilant) caps and 2 types of wad.Add to this list the shot and you are talking a lot of money just to get started. You will need an explosives licence to buy/store B.powder and your local FEO should be able to advise you on safe storage (not in a metal container from what i remember).I would go for a standard 12g replica by pedersoli or navy arms as they are well built and can stand a fair bit of abuse (like firing 2 loads put into one barrell by mistake-easily done in a hurry).B.powder guns have very little or no choke so dont think long range duck hunting but they are effective at most types shooting and are brilliant fun for a gentle walk around the feilds when you are not in a hurry to clear pigeons off crops.Buy a jacket with a lot of pockets cos these guns need little extras like brushes and pins excetra to keep the nipples clean.Practice is the key to fast and safe loading-place your loading equipment in sequence in your pockets and you should be fine-after firing each shot and before loading you need to half cock the hammer and blow down the tubes to ensure all the powder has burnt-the thought of pouring fresh powder onto a stubborn spark is frightening when you consider that you could have a further 1/4 lb still in your hand-smoking and BP guns do not mix well!.Make sure you clean them as soon as you can after use because the powder residue is prone to rust everything in sight (smells like rotten eggs as well so dont expect a lot of loving from her indoors when you start using her sink.)If i had the cash i would buy another one tommorow cos of the fun factor alone-they also get loads of attention at clay shoots.Have fun-and keep your powder dry!

Just a quicky-before you scrap this car i'm pretty sure that some parts are now impossible to obtain in this country-the cam-cover for one. When i needed parts for mine (now sold) i could'nt get some spares at any price.Things may have changed a bit in the last couple of years but it might be worth your while selling her to a breaker for parts rather than just scrapping her and getting it crushed.

what to do petition against me shooting organized by inlaws!
bruno22rf replied to utectok's topic in General Shooting Matters
Jesus wept-if i had in-laws like that i would tell them ,one and all, to go **** themselves.Whats all the c**p with the F in L writing to you-doesnt he have the balls to speak directly to you or is his wife wearing the trousers?.Ignore the lot of them and beg the farmer to put a crow scarer as near to their houses as possible.I cant believe that this situation has even bothered you-you dont tell them what to do so where do they get off telling you?I doubt that you are breaking any noise regulations and if you have permission to shoot then you have nothing to fear from the council/police.As for fitting a moderator-tell them you will do so gladly when they buy electric cars.I wish they were my inlaws cos i'm such a vindictive ******* and love payback. -
Great to see you've found a pellet that suits your gun-best thing to do now is stick to it and use the confidence that you have to improve your shooting.By the way -my HW80 loved wasps-i spent a fortune on "top" brands but an old tin of wasps came to light in the cupboard nearest the back door when i was about to pop a squirrel that destroys my hazelnuts every year-i only had one chance of a head shot when he peered thru two branches to check that all was well-unfortunatly it wasnt in his case and the wasp put an end to his thieving habit.I was so impressed that i set up a target and tried further shots and was amazed at the acuracy of such a cheap pellet. That was a few years back though and im sure ive heard that wasps are now made by another company and that quality has taken a nose-dive.Enjoy the 80 and good luck.

I thought the post from Browning gts was fair and to the point-i doubt that many people on this forum would recomend shooting pigeons with a puffgun at over 40 yards-even at 30-40 yards you need to be pretty competant to be certain of a kill.An FAC airgun would be a wise investment if,for any reason, you cannot get close enough for a certain lethal shot.

If the ones from the bay are by "coverall"make sure you keep the receipt-you may well need it!
