Had a few a couple of months back on Peas but when the Peas came out the birds cleared out - last 2 trips I've only pulled the trigger to break the deafening sound of silence. Fields covered in Rape now with little interest at the moment - floor is carpeted with Acorns though.

I have always had a hankering for a Colt Dragoon or something similar but when I spoke to my FEO about it she pretty much said "fat chance" - just wanting one was not acceptable as a reason and unless I belonged to a club where such pistols could be used I would not get a variation for one.

Sad news but I could never stand Bond movies.

Out of interest - what reason are you giving for BP Pistol? Rifle is interesting - friend of mine used to travel to the states every 5 years and buy genuine "Kentucky" antique Rifles then use them to shoot Foxes as well just collecting as it was a passion of his.

Just watched a clip of him being shot - not such a manly hero when lead starts hitting him is he?

I bought my Hoggs tweed off this very site - doubt that any amount of money could make it any better than it already is - wore it earlier this week in heavy rain whilst out with the Dogs, totally waterproof and warm to boot I can honestly say that without it the Dogs would have missed their daily hour and a half stroll despite me having several "modern" waterproof/goretex alternatives.

Modern machining has brought precision, that was once the hallmark of hand building, to the masses - neither gun is better, new guns are simply built a better way where money is an issue. Where the main difference is apparent is in the quality and versatility of modern steel or Alloys. IMHO a moder Browning, for example, will easily outlast a gun built at the turn of the century - the problem is that modern buyers rarely buy for life and guns pass through several hands with their value dropping each time, neglect follows (cant be bothered cleaning it - it was a £200 gun) and then premature wear sets in.

Having had the pleasure of meeting London Best I can assure you that his honesty and ethics are beyong reproach - a true Gent.

A used meteor (check for any movement side to side on the barrel) and RWS Hobby in .22 flavour should provide you with plenty of fun for very little outlay............OMG - this is the first time in near 60 years that I've recommended a BSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But price is the driving force.

Let us know how you get on moderating a .17hmr and using it around barns! If you must have a rimmie then get a .22 and, as already suggested, get some caps. A modern Air Rifle would be a whole heap safer.

That Reg number ( O instead of D) is deffo a VW Passat.

If getting a silencer is a major problem, find one that you want and I will see if my local RFD can get one - I'm happy to buy and post it to you at cost?

Simple cure - 5mg Prednisolone/day.

You are, of course, spot on Lloyd90 - although my family will not use any command other than the ones I use and they would never try to train nor punish him unless I am there - we have a strict understanding in this matter.

I must be extremly lucky - my (rescue) Springer was barely 6 months old when we first got him, as soon as we got him home I let him out in the garden after the car journey home. My eldest daughter rolled a ball passed him as he was looking nervous, in the hope of distracting him, and he duly ran to it, picked it up then returned it to her hand. He has done the same now for 6 years - hold out your hand and he will place the ball in it, even a stranger.

Agree 12gauge82 - but put a cholate cake and a sunday roast in front of a dog and it will eat both then decorate your soft furnishings.

What makes me smile is people saying that their "dog loves" such and such a rubbish food and use it as justification for buying cheap food. When you consider the fact that many dogs will eat other dogs faeces you might want to question their ability to distinguish between good and bad foods.

I think we should take a moment to consider the desperation that causes such men to take these severe actions - in some countries they cannot even get Bake Off in colour.

Been a good 25 yearts since I made homebrew - got all the gear so anyone recommend a good kit to start me off - I tend to prefer Hobgoblin syle Ales but I'm willing to give anything a go.

How much does your shooting cost per year?

If you are happy feeding them the stuff then that's great - all I suggested was that you read the review, if you have done so and are still OK with your choice that's fine by me - none of my business, but problems will come later in life if you feed a dog a poor diet. There are so many choices out there now and no excuses for not doing your homework - my Dogs food is carefully chosen with a view to quality and price - I feel that it's the very least I can do for my animals. -
Mines the 2.0ltr turbo 1999. Engine pulls like a train and she is the best car I've ever owned for fuel, pretty sure she's nearly 40mpg - bodywork is ,er, rough.

You Dog food is rated as amoungst the worst on the market - the independant website "allaboutdogfood" actually gives a red flag warning due to it's very poor nutritional content. Not having a go - but I think, for the sake of your Dogs health, you should look around at other options. Buy big bags from sellers such as Bitiba and you should find something suitable. -
She's beautiful - I'm dreading losing my boy, even though he's only 6 he has heart problems, he is full of life at the moment but knowing that it could end at any moment often finds me in tears - nothing on 2 legs has ever come close to my bond with him.

Nothing really - bought a 1000 cartridges a couple of years ago and still not half way through them as I seem to have been given loads over the years. No rent on the 11k acres I cover so it's all just down to ammo for the puffgun - pennies over the year. In my case it's hard to think of a cheaper hobby. Did spend £30 on 28g ammo this year so it's not all roses. -
Follow ultrastu's advice - he's pretty much on the money. ( he usually is but dont tell him I said so)
