  1. I like no brass at all. The full plastic cases are the way, easier to recycle. Why don't they still make them. If your paying top dollar for carts you expect high brass for your money.
  2. Get a few boxes of mini magnums 40gram 4 just in case. Have you been told it's a high bird shoot,if it's not and show normal sporting birds your carts should be fine.
  3. I used a made up recipe of London stock finish in the past from Sage100 and had fantastic results. But I'm oiling a friends stock for him with the trade secrets kit and I'm surprised at how good it's turning out. The TS 95 oil hardens the rapid oil and adds shine. So I will be using it again to top up other stocks.
  4. Wire wool can break off into wood pores and react with the chemicals causing staining. Sure it says somewhere about not to use wire wool. Hopefully it will sand out, or ease when you wet and de whisker the wood.

    Cordless SDS

The 24v with the rotary stop chisel/breaker function had for years and been fantastic but of kit. If only for drilling go for the 18v if you want one that can chisel blocks and bricks out then the newer 36v is your best bet.
  6. unfortunately your only choice is bismuth, by looks of it. Sure their are some reasonable bismuth loads out there if your not shooting too many a slab should last a season
  7. For me a nice AYA number one delux. For the money second hand they take some beating. My 30" Damascus barrelled Hollis London made gun, at first I wasnt so sure of the fit, but a day on the partridges snap shooting and three first barrel kills stone dead makes it a keeper for me. Great handling and not to whippy like some shorter barrel sxs can be. As people have said what suits one may not suit another. I've handles some top end guns like Purdy and Holland & Holland, nice but didn't impress me for the price. A AYA Yeoman sxs I had on loan while my gun was getting fixed fitted me better and felt more balanced. But then I don't conform to the average size for gun fit. Some one I know has a lovely AYA model 53 with silver coin finish and gold washed locks, handles and looks superb. I've looked all over and never found one like it.
  8. I've seen this car in the flesh and it's very clean, especially for a shoot wagon My road cars are never kept as clean. Davyo you got one of them OCD conditions for cleaning cars and de cluttering your garage
  9. Wera gold bits with the green band. I have paid the extra for the black impact driver bits and they didn't last as long. I buy them in a box of twenty at a time. The black impact ones are not as hard and wear then slip ruining the screw heads. The gold ones when they go, snap and don't damage the screw.
  10. The new 31/2" chambered Yildiz Wildfowlers is quite a heaven gun. Not light like the 3" chambered version. They are Mobil choked and pistol gripped with a single trigger. Don't think you would go far wrong as they are chrome lined too. Have a look at reviews online.

    Well

Got to be worth opening it up again. The water table in your area will tell you how deep it needs to be.
  12. Well done on helping that newbie you will have saved him,not just this time but now he has seen your marsh at large high tide he may think twice in future.
  13. I love these threads. Do people think Beretta suddenly started using different steel for a 682 Gold E barrel because is got a Fleur de lys. Nope it was proofed to a higher pressure when it was proofed that's all. It's exactly the same barrels. America has no proofing and they shoot all sorts of steel loads. I would shoot Gamebore Super Steel steel through a Beretta without any concern.
  14. Also is rifle bore copper solvent safe for shotguns. Is it safe to use near electricity pylons.
  15. I have a blue green line on one finger from when I was an apprentice cutting copper pipe and when the hacksaw went through the rag on the pipe cut my finger. A good while later after it healed I noticed this line, it has now faded over the years. Never got infected or poisoned me, granted it will have been a very small amount. Much the same as folk from wars with lead fragments in them and left in place as danger is so small.
  16. To many variables to put a price on it. If your interested speak to the owner and see what he/she wants for it and go from there. I know folk who pay a couple of hundred for quite large splashes and others who pay a lot more for smaller ponds in nice locations. From what you say it don't sound worth much, what you plan to do with it could have a bearing on it. Are you looking to buy or rent it, if rent be careful that your improvements don't put the future rent up as its then worth more. Get locked on for a number of years.
  17. This has got to be a contender for the resurrection of old post award
  18. Check the density of copper against soft iron and see how they compare.
  19. The only dealer I know in the north east who stocks the Eley Lightings is Keith Sports at Saltburn. I contacted Eley and was told to order them through him, he had some on the shelf too. Hope you get sorted.
  20. They can make dinner plates and coin trays get some caught
  21. Come on then spill the beans. What's gone on?
  22. Post up the details then for all of us 28bore users
  23. If they used copper coating to stop the lead being welded together on firing, copper is a good conductor of heat and the pressures and heat would surly be enough to to burst the coating as it travels up the barrel. If it works then great all shot should be copper plated. Just look at some of the shapes in non toxic pellets and it makes little or no difference to the patterns. Interesting thread and hope some data turns up.
  24. If it gives you confidence go for it. Can't see that it makes a bit of difference down range, as for better patterns. Pattern your choice of cartridge to your gun and chokes and go from there. Looking at the blurb on Hull Driven Grouse they are the same as non copper coated cartridges in the range and nothing out of the ordinary. Eley Impax and Grand Prix will have accounted for more game than any other cartridge available today, no copper shot in them. I'd like to see the hard data and patterns on the copper plated shot cartridges compared to the exact same cartridge without copper plated shot.
  25. I'd rather buy a higher grade Fausti for the same money. Or a nice second hand AYA or Arrietta. Beretta SXS have never been popular.
