  1. If he has a pressure barrel to work the loads up, where is the danger? It's no different to experimenting with known powder weights and pressures. You can easily drop too much powder when trying to up a load and go way over pressure even with known powder. If the OP uses the same weight of shot and wads and uses the powder I can't see how he can go too far wrong.
  2. Always thought the MK38 was the Miroku version of the Browning 525 not the MK70.

    Chrome book

Tried on my Chromebook and it wouldn't work as no software on it to open and run anything. Wonder if the updates fixed this. I haven't used it in a long while as wife and daughter have it mostly now.
  4. Pm Hawkeye as he is a member of at least one local range I know of.
  5. Try proper cartridges loads. George makes some cracking cartridges for your needs.

    Chrome book

I've had a chrome book for a couple of years now and it's great for surfing the net and online documents as has been said. They self update around every six weeks. Just wish they had the option of using external storage to make them easier for everyday use. Wife uses it more than the I pad for surfing as it has a proper keyboard.
  7. Sure there is one near Pickering and Malton. About the same distance as Thimbleby would be I think. Have a look on the CPSA website and you can search by county for clubs that are registered. There are plenty of grounds around not registered too but they wouldn't be listed. Thimbleby is a good ground and not to far away from you.
  8. Don't try and seal the locks as you will think if its sealed I'll just wipe it and put it away. If water has got into the locks it could ruin them if just left and it got rust. Just pop them open and dry them out each time they get wet.
  9. You can buy coloured heat shrink in sizes that would fit a choke and replace the missing bands.
  10. Buy a round retractable diamond file, they even have a slot for hook sharpening.
  11. They only were meant as place to go so if your house collapsed when a bomb went off you wouldn't be crushed. They were never meant to be bomb proof.
  12. Fred I used a easy hit bead on some of my guns as I don't have a dominant eye so the bead can jump around for me depending which way the target comes. I found the bead great to shoot both eyes open mount the gun as you would, then close one eye line up the sight in your eye to get the right mount. Open both eyes stare into the distance not at the bead and after a second or so the coloured dot will hover as if in space. You canthen call for the target swinging the hazy coloured dot where you need to without losing focus on the target as its in your peripheral vision. It takes a little while to get used to but works with practice. I still use them on my 28bore and wildfowling auto as in the dark I can't see where the end of my barel is.
  13. Bring the good weather back with you.

    Whiskey

Have a look in the supermarkets as they have money off some good malts. I like the peaty Islay malts like Laphroaig and Ardberg. Glenlivet, Balvenie,Highland Park are all nice. Recommendations are easier if we know what you like. The Singleton is a good value whiskey that suits most palates.
  15. I have dropped 65 yard pheasants with 25g of 6 shot stone dead. A week later on a different shoot failed to drop birds that were hit hard and rattled with 28g of 5shot. Depends where the shot hits, if it hits vitals their dead.
  16. Stevo how'd you do in the FITASC you shot. That's my favourite sporting shooting, not very good at it but love to shoot it. Edited for extra large fingers on large I Phone
  17. Stevo your not really over choked as the constrictions are depending on your bore diameter slightly tight half as 10 thou is 1/4 20 thou 1/2 30 thou 3/4 and full is 40 thou if your gun is over bored your closer to 5/8 U3 and 7/8 U4 about right I'd say for tarp bashing. How did you manage to stay awake for 100 of them Well done some good darts sir Shot a charity shoot this afternoon and a fella was shooting sporting with super full and super full in a Kreighoff. I think it equates to solid slug and solid slug at normal range clays.
  18. I found full choke to blow the pattern when using bigger shot in higher weights. Find 3/4 to throw a better pattern at distance with large loads. Test your chosen cart and choke on pattern boards at the distances your likely to shoot.
  19. To keep on topic is the shot polished and how hard is it in the £138.00 a thousand cartridges
  20. Rottweil Waidman shells would be ideal. Other than that look for lead duck loads, 36 or 40g of 3 or 4 shot through 3/4 chokes. If that don't bring them down they shouldn't be shot at.
  21. For 500 I'd be looking Baikal MP153 or Armsan A612 in black. Any of the big names for that money would well used examples.
  22. Looks to have some numbers or letters engraved on the bottom between the two blued pieces.
  23. Why weren't you at work? You taking a day off during the week to work the weekend on premium time Look forward to seeing the ground completed.
