  1. Thanks guys I'll might give the tea bag stuff ago as I live not far from Northallerton. If that's no good I may have to splash out on a Tuffie bed Cheers
  2. Hi, I'm using vet bed at the moment for my two labs who live out. However I find it gets a bit smelly quite quickly and when I do wash it in the machine, the hair almost sticks to it. Is there a better alternative ? One of them is a chewer as well so nothing expensive. What are the Tuffie beds like ? Are they really indestructible ? Thanks in Advance
  3. Join one of the clubs that shoot in the Summer league. You will meet loads of local lads and you get to shoot all the local grounds.
  4. ive just bought a cheap Nokia. Replaces the Sony Xperia that I had no end of issues with. Cost the grand total of £99. Its pretty good as far as I can gather
  5. Hi Guys, Quick update and thanks to all who gave advice. We went to the Shooting Show at Doncaster yesterday and bought my son a BSA Scorpion .22. We got a decent deal on the rifle and gas bottle filling kit and a couple of tins of pellets chucked in. Son is made up with it, its got his cheap Simmons scope from his old rifle on it, but we zeroed it in this morning and he is grouping in a 50 p sized bulls eye at around 30m, which seems to be about the limit for this scope. He is going to save his pocket money and wait and get a nice scope on it along with a fancy carry bag. With any luck he will be able to get the squirrels on our shoot under control ASAP. Thanks again
  6. Sorry , but I've never met a Gypsy that I would trust. They are brought up with completely different values to the rest of society.
  7. Doesn't surprise me. Born and bred in Darlington and its well known that the Gypsies on that camp couldn't give a toss about the law. Stealing, fly tipping, drive by shootings , torching rivals houses the list goes on. Local police either don't care or a scared stiff of them. They are a section of society to whom laws just don't apply as far as they and the police are concerned.
  8. Thanks guys. We are off for a bit of a browse in a couple of local gun shops to see what they have. Any recommendations for Air Rifle shops in the North East ?
  9. Cheers for the input guys. We built a hide together earlier in the year so he can help us get on top of squirrels, and he shoots at the range if I go for a round of clays so not too much humping it around required. I don't mind chucking in a bit of money either as he will no doubt want to chop it in for a shotgun when he gets a bit older so we wont lose too much hopefully.
  10. Hi All, Looking for some advice for a rifle for my lad. He currently has a Webley Vulcan .22 with a cheap scope on it. Loves to come plinking with me while we are out. Couple of weeks ago at the range a chap there gave him a shot on his rifle. No idea what it was but according to my son it was awesome ! magazine fed rather than single shot with an enormous scope. He was hitting stuff he couldn't get anywhere near with his. He now has a pocket full of birthday money (About £430 give or take) and wants to upgrade. Now i'm all for this as his other idea is another load of bloody Nerf guns. So question is, what do we look for? I know nothing about Air Rifles. The one he has now is break barrel and he thinks he wants a Pre Charged? How long do these last before I have to take it to the gun shop to get refilled, or can I do it at home with a pump ? Would we be better off not getting a pre charged one ? Any recommendations would be great on both rifle and scope. Like I said I know nothing about rifles so open to all suggestions. Boy is 11 in case that makes a difference, so no FAC ones. Cheers in advance.
  11. A computer eh ? Things must have changed since I did my Open Water. I had a watch, a depth gauge and a PSI in the tank gauge.
  12. Also, just in case you didn't know, Teesdale Gun Club is in Mickleton. Lovely little ground.
  13. If youre staying at the Crown in Mickleton you will be either Caravanning or staying in the little cottage at the pub. Both are great. We have our shoot breakfasts at the Pub and also use it as the venue for our end of season dinners. Andy , the owner, is a lovely bloke and a great chef. Don't leave without having some of his black pudding ! Enjoy
  14. For good reasonably priced food try the Crown at Mickleton. There is a lovely walk behind the pub along an old railway line which takes you into Middleton in Teesdale.Stunning scenery along the way. Bowes museum is a good shout, along with the Silver Swan also make sure you see the two headed calf !!. There is a lovely walk from the town centre which takes you along the river to Egglestone Abbey which is nice. Also worth a look is Kynren near Bishop Auckland. Google it to see if its your sort of thing as its quite pricey
  15. The most important thing is that they fit properly. Get measured and have your gait checked. I use New Balance from an outlet store, usually pay about £60

Fisher Ground in Eskdale. Lovely spot at the bottom of Hardknot pass
  17. The TV coverage has been awful. Shaky camera work, zooming in and out for no reason, terrible angles etc. However the games have been brilliant, 3 outstanding players for me have been Launchbury, Brown and Hughes. All should have had a spot on the lions tour
  18. He seemed a really nice bloke, and an incredibly talented rider. Poor fella :-(
  19. I rescued my lab from similar circumstances. He was left for 23 hrs a day. A dog walker exercised him for an hour, rest of the time spent in a cage which was too small for him. Man who owned him thought he was going to make his fortune by using him as a stud dog. When we got him, you could see every vertebrae on his spine, there was no muscle in his legs, it was sad to see. He now is a massive boy with muscles on his legs a weight lifter would be proud of, eats his body weight in food if I let him, great with the kids, useless as a gun dog, but we love him as does everyone who meets him I can bet you he's a happier dog now than he was before !
  20. sbmcc.co.uk all you need to know about doing your own. I've done a couple of day vans, that forum has been a gold mine

England have a few injuries, but the pool of players they have to draw from at the moment is immense. Even with two thirds of the pack out with injuries, we still have the strongest set of forwards in the competition. England Ireland Scotland Wales France Italy Should be a good one
  24. Difference between Football and Rugby. Permanent memorial at Twickenham, the Rose and Poppy Gates. A century after England Rugby captain Ronnie Poulton Palmer was killed by a sniper bullet at Ypres, Twickenham stadium unveiled its first ever public memorial to the players who died in the Great War and all in the rugby family who have died in conflicts around the world. On the eve of the Army v Navy match, a ceremony was held to unveil the Rose and Poppy Gates, which now stand under the West Stand’s gold lion and through which teams will walk en route to Twickenham international matches. Nothing that happens in football surprises me, rotten to the core
  25. Just to balance this up, My wife has almost the exact same schedule as your Mrs by the sound of it. We had a 2 litre diesel S Max and it was the best and most reliable car we ever had. Brilliant family car which is massive inside with the clever 7 seat arrangement. We chucked and cheapo supermarket fuel in it as well. Needed nothing but regular scheduled servicing
