  1. To the op, ignore this thread there is too much contradictory advice. If you have the money and time with somewhere suitable available get a proper gun fitting. Failing that buy a book and read a few different peoples guides. http://www.positiveshooting.com/GunFittingP1Main.html That is where i started, lots more reading, some experimentation, a cheap laser boresighter, a couple of books, and i think i have the basics understood well enough for diy use for my own guns. I would still like to arrange a professional gunfitting sometime. This book is my favourite, https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0948253657/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It goes into enough detail to understand the basics and appreciate some the complexities beyond the scope of the book. Like home reloading by the time you have bought the books, some kit, read more stuff, played a bit, and repeat its cheaper to pay someone else to do it. Much more fun to diy though. Edit, if you have a semi with shims it should be an easy and cheap job once you understand what you are adjusting and why.
  2. Im in northern ireland. Whilst pistols have never grabbed me i do feel i should take up pistol shooting whilst living in a country that allows it.
  3. Ive drilled holes inside built in wardrobes and found them wonderfully easy to conceal when moving on. I have always kept firearms secret from the landlord as every contract ive had has forbidden them. I would raise some flooring in the wardrobe and bolt a cabinet down if possible. Make sure you keep the flooring to reinstate on departure. Depending on the nature of the flooring it may be better to conceal/make good if you bolt into the concrete through the flooring and cut out appropriate holes for the bolts.
  4. I have some Remington 870/1100 chokes in mine. An old gun which claimed to be mobil choke would not take the Remingtons so they stayed in the box until I tried them in the Akkar.
  5. Ghenghis khan would be more electable than Comrade Corbyn. If we want an effective opposition someone, anyone, has to replace Corbyn.
  6. Lift floor board, secure clap to side of joist under board, put board back.
  7. Went and bought 1000 clay carts, 500 22lr, and they knocked a load of cash of a set of summer aigles (which were below the amazon price already). I would have bought them there at rrp anyway and they know it, i always ask and then buy which product has the best margin for them when price and specs are the same.
  8. Ouch. Insurance is expensive if you want decent cover. A mate pays £300 a month for his income protection insurance which it sounds like the chap expected to be included in his annual basc membership.
  9. They are independant contractors and can charge whatever they want. I have a foot in both camps on the matter and strongly suspect we are all better off if everyone refuses to engage.
  10. Its worth shopping around. My better half paid a little under £350. I need to sort mine out but given i also need to do cat C there is an argument to just going the whole C+E hog instead.
  11. I pay £440 a year just to be kept on a list. £220 a year for access to a mandatory system to record training. £222 a year to be part of a useless union... It goes on. Why cant a man just turn up and work with decent references anymore.
  12. Ive always thought a caravan would make more sense, but then i keep a tow car anyway for the horse box. If no other need for a tow car it would probably change the argument. I suspect in a few years i will move to a 10ton or so for the horse which will double up as a motorhome. Mpg shouldnt be hugely worse than towing the box.

    Some kind soul

I cycle to work and use £150 sports direct bikes that are cheaper to replace than maintain, usually i go through one every eight months or about 3000 miles. They are cheap to run and i wont be upset when one gets pinched. My current one is five months in to its expected life. Today i locked up outside the front door of a hospital in the roughest parts of belfast in the usual throng of smokers, then came back out of work in the ******* rain to find some kind soul had put a saddle cover on it and lubed up and indexed the gears. Yes i did check it was the same bike i locked up this morning. Thank you whichever kind soul made my evening.
  16. How would they get 200 cadets off school to go clay shooting? Ive encountered the same problem elsewhere and it is always frustrating, but at the same time its not like i check websites or phone everytime to check shooting will be available i just assume it will be buisness as normal but sometimes find a huge group or a competition.
  17. Ive not liked semis each time i have shot one. The empties flying out the side and all the extra noise and vibration of the action working put me off. I have a bps pump i love to bits though, drops the empties between your feet and cycles smoothly when you want it to. If you want something that feeds without breaking it open one might be just the job.
  18. Lovely things but seemingly, along with ithicas, like rocking horse poo to find. After months of looking for mine i put up a wanted ad. I got a reply which was more or less an interview as to wether i was a suitable new home but then an early field modle. It has a full choke barrel which i dont have the heart to open up but id like something more open, finding another barrel is seemingly impossible.
  19. Even if somewhere close were cheaper I'd still go there for the service, if we don't support places like that we will end up without them.
  20. I'd be seriously tempted if I didn't have to put in a variation to get it. Whoever get it please enjoy it a little extra for me.
  21. Stick it in gunstar, guntrader, and the ads here then rfd to the buyer, get a better price than your trade in would be, then have gun you want sent over. I have found Hollow farm a pleasure to deal with and very well priced to recieve a rifle from the mainland for me.
