  1. I seem to miss just as well with the extra lead, that said ive not tried comparing them at longer range. Do your scores go up increasing the amount of lead?
  2. Whatever is cheapest. Ive yet to work out what the functional advantage of 28g over 21g is. They cost more and start to get uncomfortable in a long session. I buy whatever is cheapest but it tends to be 21g, i can shoot those all day from my over under, 28s are fine until about the 125 cartridge point. Gamebore do a steel 24g which is sometimes available nice and cheap.
  3. I dont mind Boris but i dont think the bikes are that simple an issue. My understanding is that the two had an effect that massively increased cycling in London over the last few years. Whilst it is hideously expensive was there a cheaper alternative to shore up a creaking public transport system and meet the emissions targets?
  4. I have a 25 inch side by side i enjoy shooting above all the others in the cabinet but cant hit a thing on a trap stand with it. I have a 30 inch over under that is far less fun to shoot but i can hit things with it at trap. I think preference depends on the task at hand.
  5. To be fair it cant be a hard buisness choice... Make something easily maintained but then needing more expensive labour to produce and losing servicing income thus needing a high list price to be decently profitable, but has to compete with far eastern budget offerings. Vs Make something easily produced by machines with lots of bits of finite life expectancy that need the dealer to fix and sells to people who budget a pile a month for their motoring. If i had shares in whichever conglomerate own landrover these days i would be happy with their decision. As a landrover enthusiast i am however rather disappointed.
  6. I love my protacs (£120 i think after some shopping around). Earplugs are very personal, i use them on the motorbike and for me the howard leigh max ones are by far the best. I have had two sets of custom moulded ones at much higher cost, lower comfort, and greater noise exposure. 3m do an easily removable christmas tree like one which is almost as quiet for me but not comfortable for over an hour. For shooting i vastly prefer the protacs to any plugs i have used, the only problem is the bulky battery compartment on the left side (i shoot from the left).

    26 inch

I think my favourite gun in the cabinet has 25 inch barrels. It is an absolute joy to shoot, Id love another with more open chokes for skeet.
  8. My better half has mine on her fac. If she didnt i would want a trusted mate to have an envelope with details and intructions to keep one for himself and to get the best price he could for the rest.
  9. Looks ghastly but is it easily home maintainable?
  10. My first shot with cci always seems to go supersonic but later ones stay sub.
  11. Will vote DUP for the sole reason that if successful they effectively form a coalition with the conservatives. I would prefer an independant northern ireland or united ireland but all the options for that have some other crazilly socialist ideas i cant consider voting for.
  12. Good man, being a good neighbour seems to be often neglected. Im currently raising a glass to your work there. Remember tuna will get the cat, dont snare it.
  13. Not yet but its pretty close, hence as close to a common language as possible. The states is the only place to my knowledge that is still pretty entirely imperial outside of appropriate sections of industry, and even their imperial units are not a common language with ours.
  14. Why do we have to persist with imperial units as if they have any relevance to brexit? Damned near ever commercially useful field to the country is standardised to metric, most of us under 40 only understand metric, and the only people without a functioning grasp of metric units are either retired or about to! Give me standardised units that are as close to a common language with the rest of the world as possible.
  15. I have been frequently surprised how low van payloads are vs a decent trailer, or when towing full weight limits van payload markedly... No idea what van will suit but look out for trouble if moving a decent amount of stuff plus such a toy and then towing. If old enough not to need another licence would selling the trailer and caravan give enough for an old 7.5ton race truck?
  16. I would be happy with that. In said economy i assume i would earn enough for a foreign shooting trip every few weeks though...
  17. When i first shot an eley i thought it had misfired, i shall have to try some rws. I mostly use cci though as they are almost half the price. Edited as what i thought were rws were actually winchesters.
  18. Is it common enough an occurence that you should be pricing it into the work?

    Ardiuno users

I bought one for a project, my brother now uses it.
  20. Mercifully i have yet to pay over £100 in fees. Last move was £190 but at least that was reimbursed as a relocation expense.
  21. Likewise, cant shoot the black ones, keep the numbers down around the cross country course but dont worry too much about the hay fields.
  22. I rather like having a decent rfd nearby and not a huge place a couple of hours away. Consequently i buy as much as i can from my rfd. Im not convinced the shooting population is big enough to support such superstores without ending up with just three or four shops for the whole country.
  23. Im left handed, tried a right handed semi and really did not enjoy it. Try before you buy, I cant see myself wanting to shoot one again... With suitable eye protection it probably isnt particularly dangerous. A catacylsmic failure after a blocked barrel might be more likely to go in to your face but you are getting down to pretty unlikely things to worry about there.
  24. I thought this was a place we could discuss what we do with our weapons at the weekend and nothing to do with gender. That said i'd love to get a nice sidelock engraved with a view from home on each side.
  25. That worked when 5% went to uni and most of them got well paying jobs. When 50% go to uni but only 5% get well paying jobs it falls apart.
