  1. There is always the air to air heat pump option. You can run the refrigerant lines externally in drainpipe or through the loft. The side benefit is air con in the summer.
  2. This is totally uncalled for and giving the people of this forum a bad name. Pigeon shooting like all field sports should be treated with respect and you should show your fellow sports men (and women) respect. I expect you don't get many invites. Anyway on from that. Well done that man for such an offer. I would have snapped your arms off if you were down south, and I do have land to shoot over. I'll come out of the closet and tell you last time I went out I came back with one bird with one lost and was jolly happy about it. I don't go out aiming to shoot more than 30, as I process and eat everything I shoot. That's the only reason I may be counting. I'm also restricted to having to shoot when other schedules allow, so I make the best of what I can find on the day. I'm perfectly happy with that, my good day may be somebody else's worse day, but that's the nature of the sport and varying expectations. In this case everybody got far more than they paid for, so let's all be happy and thank the man for risking his own permissions to give people an opportunity to get into the sport.
  3. Glad it's helpful. Correction can be quite a personal thing and it's easier if properly instilled from a puppy stage. My view is it's not about being rough with a dog, that can be very negative. It's more about being "oi pay attention". With good dog trainers you can see they are able to do this just with verbal tones after getting it set in as a puppy. With an older dog who is stronger it can be more difficult to be effective. If it were me I would put a short slim training lead on him. You can make your own from good stuff thin cord. Hanging no lower than leg hight so it doesn't get in the way. Then you have something to get hold of. Give it a sharp tug to sit him up in front of you. I've seen other people give them a little tug on the ear or roll them over and give them a bit of a shake - good luck doing that with a lab but I'm a spaniel man.
  4. You need to reinforce you still must be respected at distance.bthere are a few ways to do this but it's one of the harder dog training aspects. You are doing one of those with the long line. But you must be consistent. Don't do a couple of easy goes on the long line then allow him freedom in a more challenging situation where he gets away with ignoring you. Continue with the long line in progressively more difficult situations. Immediately correct any unwanted behaviour with the line and keep doing that untill you think he has it 100%. Other options or you may want to use following that: you need to be energetic. If he is out there dicking you around you need to charge out there and grab him to correct. But don't do this it you are not quick enough to get him every time or it can turn into a game of chase. Second if allowed where you are use a training collar.
  5. I wouldn't worry about it. Give it a decent clean, if there is a bit of stuff left don't worry about and keep shooting. It's self cleaning to an extent.
  6. Best bet is rechargeable. They are all low self discharge these days so no issue with occasional use. The other alternative is lithium. Very dependable even in low temps but more expensive. The IKEA rechargeable batteries are very good as mentioned above.
  7. They are decent hobby lathes, worth a couple of hundred on the open market. I guess it depends if you want to do some turning? It's perfectly fine for spindles and small bowls. Also useful for polishing and filing metal parts with the right chuck.
  8. Probably just needs a carb clean and rebuild. The E10 can gum up more and damage the diaphragms, won't have done any damage to the engine. OP - if you had a good experience of 18 years trouble free service from a Stihl why would you now be looking for cheaper options. Did it not prove it's value? I had a Triton split shaft a few years back. Incredible value and worked well but 3 months in it just stopped running right and the carb can't be adjusted. Screwfix too it back no issue, so in that respect good if you do it every year but also rubbish.
  9. I would make sure you hold some in a shop. I have a 12b mk60 game 2003 and a 20b grade 5 2017. Both I find to have a very similar sight picture and about the same as a browning. I've held a friend's mk60 universal from 2012 and it felt very different, much lower in the comb. Also both of mine don't have mid beads which I think is less common and how I prefer.
  10. Yes, that's also known as a static phase converter, all be it a home made one.
  11. You can't run a 3 phase motor on single phase without some sort of phase converter to generate a 3 phase supply. Some motors can be switched between 400 and 240v but that's still 3 phase in both configurations
  12. Ah I get you. Thanks for the info! Not something I've had but I can see how that could be an issue. Is that not an issue with the moulded type then?
  13. WHAT? No seriously, what's the basis for your hearing protection being better than others?
  14. Orvis hunting and shooting pod cast mainly, some of the fieldsports channel ones. There used to be others but they died off. I mix in a bit of rue crime and facial ones from the BBC and other places. I should add maybe it's my poor pigeon shooting skills that necessitate the podcasts to fill time between and pigeons!
  15. Have you got a link to what you mean? I've got the peltors but don't find the buds great? I also have the uso tunes and fine them excellent. I listen to shooting podcasts while pigeon shooting which is great, I also find they stay in my ears well and sound quality is fine.
  16. Same here. Thanks 👍
  17. With the old licence system this applies to what you could tow. Eg without a licence you could only tow a trail MAM of 750 unbraked or a braked trailer MAM a proportion of the tow vehicle (almost impossible to achieve without getting the trailer replated). That no longer applies as the have scrapped the trailer licence and everybody can tow up to 3500kg but there are some differences over total vehicle and trailer weight still. The actual trailer weight and tow vehicle capacity are your responsibility to be within permitted limited but the trailer MAM can't exceed 3500kg.
  18. 7Ah seems to last a full session for me just fine

Can I please take the gundog book? PM coming
  20. If you are holding it for me then I'll take a punt on it. I'll PM you, I love a bit of waxed cotton.
  21. Hi interested in a bit more info on the Driazza Bone Wax Poncho? Any pictures or description as I couldn't see anything from an internet search?
  22. I went out Saturday. A couple of pigeon happened to fly past but other than that... Nothing. On the upside it was very warm and pleasant in the woods.
  23. You are right to an extent but you have to remember it's all a matter statistics with infection and heavily impacted by how people use the PPE they have. Most people simple are not able to use PPE in a way that is effective. Although in the most overly simplified terms you can spend 20 times longer in an infection scenario with an N95 mask than without. So it's up to the person to determine if that's worth the cost or not. I would say in some scenarios it may be for some people. The concept of masks for those infected is not something to be relied on. The protection factor is so small it only helps control a pandemic and offerers almost no protection as an individual. If you are personally concerned then wear an N95 or better mask in high risk situations and make sure you know how to wear these things effevtively.
