Chard
The day it happens to me, that's the day I'll accept it and not before. The world is full of people who talk tripe for whatever reason. Some believe their tripe, others just make it up. Some are barking mad, some are deluded, some - I just don't know. Nothing arrogant about not accepting everything in life at face value. It just means you're not a total cock.
MPT1
I have had "experiences". One time when leaving the house where I had a flat I turned and saw an old man in the hallway. Later on I spoke to the lady who lived downstairs and said that I had seen her husband. She said that she was a widow. When I described the man she said that who I descrbed was her husband. pegasus bridge
when i was at uni, i lived with four mates in an old victorian terrace house, after a night drinking very cheap beer, we were all sat in the kitchen, (drinking more cheap beer), which was at the back of the house, we had direct 'line of sight' of the hallway leading to the front door. i was sat with on a worktop directly facing the hallway, something caught my eye in the hall way, i looked up and saw a woman just turning up the stairs, all dark clothing, two of the other guys also saw something, one lad looked up and saw a brief glimpse of what i had seen. we got up and searched the house thinking someone had sneaked in - but the house was empty. i was always highly cynical of this sort of stuff until then - and now my mind is open. Beardo
i was working just outside Marbella a few years ago, and in the middle of the night, my bed started shaking - so violently in fact that it woke me up. it was a fairly scary experience. it stopped eventually and i went back to sleep. i found out the next day it was an earthquake in Northern Morocco! (this one to be exact!)
Doc Holliday
Nope! Nothing from my neck of the woods, although the OH said she saw her mum at the foot of her bed when she was young (her mum died when she was 11). Seems to be a common theme this standing at the foot of the bed though. Wouldn't say that I believe in anything of this ilke, but would like to think I can keep an open mind on certain things, without the help of Clinton Baptiste and his kind (thanks for that Flashman). GW80
About the only spooky thing that i can remeber was years ago when i was living at home, we lived in a house about 500 yards from my granny on my da's side of the family, about 9.30pm this night my da's old lab bitch judy started howling out in her run something she never did, my da went out to check and everything seemed fine, once he came back into the house she started howling again, **** it he said let her howl but after about an hour i can remeber my ma saying Geordie go up and check on your ma as the landing light is still on and she is usally in bed well before this. My da went up and checked on her and right enough she was sitting in her armchair dead!! Dogs have some sort of extra sense i have no doubt about that!! Mungler
Anybody ever have one of these experiences during daylight hours and sober? Incidentally, what with the whole video / camera phone thing one would have thought that there would be some *evidence* somewhere.
ST3V3
I never believed in any of it december time took the missus and daughter out lamping stood shining the lamp while the missus crept along the hedge to get in range with her air rifle. when I felt a tug on my hood put my hand around my back to grab my daughter to see what was wrong she just smiled. as we left that field I saw someone walking across the next field light blue jeans white trainers and dark top didnt think a lot of it as a lot of people take this short cut in the day, when I got to the feild no one in sight but he could have seen us and legged it. walked a little more of the farm then returned to the same spot started lamping the hedge row missus creeping along it when I felt a couple of tugs on my hood again went to grap my daughter when I noticed she was stood infront of me this time. still not explained it no wind that night nowhere near a tree or hedge so hood not snagged up on anything so anwers on a post card please. still dont believe in it all only thing I now is the rabbits in that field are safe at night funny thing is its heaving with rabbits at night and full of pigeon in the day while with my ex we were laying a carpet in the front room then the door handle moved as if someone was about to come in so I jumped up thinking it was 1 of the kids flung the door open no one there went to check on the kids both fast asleep Edited March 22, 2010 by ST3V3

Boromir
Notice how all these sightings happen during the dark hours? Your mind can play tricks on you as it does with me sometimes when walking in the countryside during night time as I think something is following me. Has anybody got any sightings during middle of the day?

Boromir
Next topic will be the good old Black Cat sightings, now there more believable. You believe what you want to see, doesnt mean its real. Only thing that came close to paranormal for me was my dog nearly **** himself he was searching away in the bushes when suddenly he jumped backwards and the hair on the back of his spine stuck up and he started barking at this one place nothing was there that I could see so just left thinking it was a fox cub or something. bruno22rf
Always been a devout sceptic till we bought our current house 12 years ago-things got so bad that the kids were being disturbed at night (we never told them that we thought that something un-natural was happening) and we eventually had the local vicar bless the house to move whatever it was on.I was suprised to learn that the church has specialists in this field and that full blown "exorcism's are performed when needed. Our vicar thought that it was my doing because i had written a poem about a young girl in the graveyard who had died aged 11 in mysterious circumstances nearly 200 years ago.To all of you who are now thinking b*****ks-i was the same as you till this happened. Raja Clavata
Is it just me or do the "paranormal" believers have something in common with "god" believers in that they are so much more passionate about their beliefs than the non-believers are? It seems obvious to me that there is a big difference between what we might think (know) we saw and what was actually there. This is supported by the evidence of stories where people report seeing a glimpse or flash of something paranormal and then when they look back and / or gather their thoughts the image has vanished. Shortly after my father died I got up for a pee in the night, in walking back into the bedroom I "saw" a glimpse of the old fella walking towards me, made me jump alright (and if I'm honest I think I gave out a girlie yelp too); it was just an effect of the little light in the room and the fact that I'd woken from a sleep where I had been dreaming about him (as I often did at the time). As far as I'm concerned dead's dead but I would never underestimate the power of the living, and particularly sub-conscious, mind. To this end I believe all mediums and the like are tuning into the mind of the living, not the spirit of the dead. My dear mother disagrees strongly. pyr8
had a few encounters all at work and during the day.first time was mid seventies.i,ve spent all my working life as a greenkeeper, almost all of it at the same club.this day i was out cutting tees all done with hand mowers in those days, lousy morning raining and windy.no one out playing.i was cutting the 12 tee when i caught sight of a bloke sheltering under a big ash tree about 20 yds to my right.thought it was one of the members out for a walk nothing strange in that but what made me look again was the way he was dressed.very long black coat and a very wide brimmed hat.i kept my eye on him out of the corner of my eye and as i turned the machine round he vanished.i walked over to were he had been standing and there was no sign of him.there was no were for him to hide.being a youngster i didn,t tell my much older work mates as they would have taken the urine.nothing happend again for a few years when one of the lads, tom 60 years old was in on one sunday morning.he was making his way back from the far end of the course when he spotted a bloke standing under a tree next to what we called the far shed,it had been a stable for the horses when they used horse drawn mowers and is a very old building.on getting closer he vanished, again tom had a good look around and no sign.he described what he saw to us the following morning.the bloke he saw was dressed the same as the bloke i had seen.i had never told anyone what i had seen.we haed odd sightinjgs over the next few years and it got to become the norm.things began to change a little later,i was in the far shed getting some fertilizer out.it was early morning not a soul about,i had the tractor and trailer parked by the door and was loading what i needed on the trailer.there was an odd bagb that i didn,t need so i left it propped against the door,as i said it,s an old building and the doors are heavy and have dropped a bit so you have to lift them a bit to open or close them.i was getting another bag of the stillage when the door slammed shut.a half hundred weight bag of fertilizer and a heavy door slammed as if it weighed nothing.no wind nothing and again not a soul in sight.must have been about a year later another little visit from our friend,i had just finished cutting the 16th green which is next to the far sheds and i was checking the machines cut before going on to the next green when i heard a voice say ,youve made a good job of that lad,i just said thanks and didn,t bother looking up thinking it was one of the members.the same voice says i couldn,t ave done better me self i looked up and not a soul there, the hairs on my neck stood up and near i crapped my self.we had similar incidents over the years, nothing nasty as such just the odd sightings or the voice from time to time.in the early eighties we used to employ a couple of students as casual labour during there summer break, this particular day one of them was driving past the far shed when some one jumped on the tractors draw bar and grabbed him by the neck,he thought it was one of the lads messing about and yes he turned round and no one there.what ever it was it had left finger marks on his neck.we tried to do some research on the clubs history and we found out that a greenkeeper at the club had drowned or commited suicide in the river that surrounds the course.the river is about 75 yds from the far sheds and it was also the staffs brew shed.we like to think it,s the old boy that died in the river just popping back from time to time to check on his course.you can laugh and scoff if you like but i know what i,ve seen and heard.
