kdubya
Like they say there was only one bloke perfect and we know what happened to him? wouldn't have hurt to help the kid. KW
955i
The thing you need to bear in mind as (at least round here) it has only been the last two years that snow has really shown its face again. The last time I remember it being like this is when I was kid some 'mumble mumble' years ago. Driving in snow is not something that can really be taught unless there is snow there, so in all liklihood a huge number of drivers have never had to drive in these kind of conditions before. Not really any wonder that some get caught out.
majordisorder
Had a "moment" myself today in a multi-storey in MK. Coming down from the top level the ramp was solid ice and I just slide down it accelerating towards the cars parked at the bottom, bit of a brown trouser moment since there was a new 911 right in the way.... Missed by a couple of inches, note to self BMW and ice does not mix.
sodit
I can understand drivers having trouble driving in snow. But what gives with the silly (b)uggers who just dump there vehicle in the middle of the road and dont even try to pull over to the side. I have a Honda CRV not even a real off roader but had to drive through all the snow last year actually early this year (ok some times very slowly)and the biggest problem was abandoned cars oh well PS would have stopped and offered to help Edited December 3, 2010 by sodit
vmobiler1
Regardless of his age or what car he was driving, I personally would help anyone stuck in the snow or just crashed in any weather! Just think it could be your son/daughter out there one day and people may have the attitude - bloody kids goin to fast! I helped several people the other day most of which were over cautious people stopping thinking they could get stuck if they kept goin. . . But got stuck anyway because they had stopped! Then couldn't get goin again and blocking the roads. I stop to help anyone. . . Just depends on their attitude wither i can get them out or not! Mungler
Whilst out lamping one night we spooked some stoners who then drove their Pug 205 var van thing into a ditch. We helped tow them out, but in the process tore the front valance off. Well funny. If the person who you offer to tow out isn't of the right calibre or grateful, then make sure the tow rope goes suitably near to some fragile bit of the vehicle... I did the same thing with some boy racers who were trying to sneak down a back way past one of my farms into Santa Pod a couple of summers ago. They got stuck whilst trying to do a 3 point turn across some very deep ruts. I got them out, but not before watching the plastic bodykit on their Saxo pinging off in all directions. Happy times! I should clarify my last to say that there was no way they were getting out of the ruts and keeping the bodykit, I didnt deliberately wreck the car (at least no more than their "modifications" already had! Frenchieboy
I don't mind helping anyone out in this sort of situation, after all do we really know how they got into the situation, it might not have been through bad driving or speeding. The way I try to lead my life is to treat people the way I would like them to treat me, if they do not respond accordingly at least I know I have led by example! You never know when it might be you that needs help so just remember to saying "What goes round comes round"!

I towed an astra van out of a ditch a while back, hooked my end of the rope on and the idiot hooked the other end onto the boot catch. Had I not been feeling generous I'd have ripped it out for giggles I'd also have stopped for the bloke, in a normal car on road tyres you don't have to be going fast in these conditions to come a cropper
-oXo-
I always stop and help if I see someone round here stuck. Be nice to think they would stop for me.
Richie10
Easier these days to ignore people and become righteous how you drive better than anyone else. I hope it happens to you and everyone ignores you. I would have helped.
CZ550Kevlar
I went over to a neighbouring village this morning to get some bits of shopping and on the way came across a chap in a citroen stuck on the hill blocking one lane, offered to tow him up as my tow rope was sitting on the back seat, he said no he thinks a friend is coming to get him, went on my way and the bloke was still sitting there 30 mins later, i then popped out to help a landowner of mine retreive a couple of sheep and spotted the same citroen parked up but this time no lights, stopped next to it and the idiot just abandoned the car where it was blocking the lane, i hope the police come along and tow his butt of to an impund for him to collect after paying for it. bullet boy
Took my Son out for lunch on his 15th birthday along with the missus and our 3 month old son. This bloke was that close to the back of us I couldn't see the bootom half of his bonnet! The traffic was very bad as it was without this clown nearly touching my bumper. He kept gestering to hurry up but as he was so close I kept touching my brake. After 10 mine of him gestering I stopped the car, got out and in a controlled manner told this bloke that he was miles too close and that my 3 month old Son was in the back,so asked him nicely to please keep his distance. All I had my a mouthful of verbal abuse.I tell you if he'd gone into the back of my car,my good law abiding nature would have gone out the window!! Norrie
Not so much bad driving as total incompetence is what I have seen. Either driving at 2 MPH straight down the middle of the well gritted road or spinning wheels and sliding the back round. In Canada nobody would go out without a sleeping bag, a shovel and a bundle of old newspapers in the back. Hiya, I also heard that even the muppet at the back of a slow driver can get done for not passing if it's safe etc... This pic was taken early this morning ...on the M9 Motorway, heading to Edinburgh.. Lane 1 was clear, well gritted etc... all traffic safely doing 35-40mph... and then a fool in a big silver 4x4 decided to join at the Linlithgow, at 20MPH !!!! Forced his/her way on to the M/way and stuck at that speed till Newbridge!!!! That queue in the pic was stuck behind the fool for mibbe 10-14 miles, why dont these idiots get the bus? Lord Geordie
If he had kids in the car YES I would have helped but if he was on his own I think I would have just asked if he had called for help and if not I would have dialed the local police station to report it and they could arrange recovery at HIS cost! al4x
no one will beat what we saw last night, a driver for dream car hire decided to follow his sat nav rather than brain and try taking a disco car trailer and lambo gallardo down a nice ice covered hill near Garyb. End result jack knifed trailer and planted the discovery through a brick wall and some gates. Lambo ended up in a hedge with minor scratching and the disco was well bent
RC45
Surely if they wanted to drive in the snow, they should have bought a 4x4. They will all be bashing 4x4 drivers in the summer.

al4x
would have been fine in an L200 though, wouldn't he I would have been as simply there is no way I'd have tried it but then I hate sat navs and tend to use a map as it avoids a lot of the stupidity
