I think they're rather beautiful. Why don't you relocate them to the lounge that so the whole family can enjoy them?

EDIT - Der! thought we were talking about the wasps nests. I now know what an orb is though.

This is Chilcompton tunnel range in Somerset 50Yard.jpg

I was intrigued when I saw the photo I had taken but someone was standing next to me and took a photo at the same time and the orbs did not appear on their picture . It seems that from what I found out cheap lenses are prone to this effect , as the other person had a very expensive SLR type camera I am inclined to believe it .

Initialy the idea of orbs sent a chill down my spine at the time when I started to find out what it was , its either dust or moisture in the air .

I remember them on that "Most Haunted" show making a huge amount out of these 'orb' photos. I cant think of better proof that something has no basis in the paranormal whatsoever than that

See if you can get Derek Acorah to go and have a look. I pretty much guarantee that he will get posessed by a drunk person who wants to shout and wave their arms about a lot. If nothing else he might get attacked by the wasps :good:

There are several reasons why these appear in photos, one is light (from the flash or from another light source) reflecting from dust/snow/rain in front of the camera, they seem big and round as they are close to the lens and very out of focus.

Another reason is that there is light reflecting or refracting from dirt, dust or scratches on or in the lens.

One more reason could be lens flare caused by light reflecting between the different lenses inside the lens, often seen on cheaper lenses with sub-standard lens coatings.

The only thing that is sure is that THEY ARE NOT PARANORMAL.

Are people really so desperate to believe in the "paranormal", that they will look at stuff like that and think its anything other than dust, a scratch/mark/water on the lens or some other rational explanation?

You know when someone gets red eye in a photo? That's because they're really possessed by Satan

In the words of Jim Royle, "orb my ****"!

the nests are glowing as i had my torch on them to show them up so i could probe them with the lance and inject them .so we got this down to dust particles or rain drops in the day heat of 25 ,if its dust how did it leave the camera without me cleaning it .i am not a ghost hunter just asked a question .some are some real **** answers here it was just a simple question asked . :hmm:

It's dust particles. When you open the loft hatch it causes a chimney effect, the rushing air current lifts dust and even insulation, the particles fly all over the place. To understand how much dust try waring a respirator with a P3 filter. The chimney effect is why the "orbs" seems to move, appear and disappear. Trust me! I spend half my life removing pests from lofts. BTW use a red filter on your lights as the wasps do not react to red light.

The dust is outside the camera, and floating in the area between the front of the lens and the area of focus. They show up as they are closer to the flash and so are lit with more light than the subject (technically it's to do with the inverse square law, but that just means they will recieve much, much more light)
