jd2130
Was thinking about this myself, the farmer who gives me permission has got a large farm shop that sells wine, beer, spirits etc so what can I give him as a gesture for xmas. Cheers Mark
wymberley
Always difficult. Remembering the good lady is a smart move. Last year a gift voucher for their favourite restaurant plus a nice bottle of wine for Christmas dinner went down well.
Cranfield
I give a bottle of Whisky at each Farm and avoid anything too over the top, so as not to create any embarrassment. At one Farm where I have shot for years, I also give the Farmers wife a tin of Quality Street. Just because the Farm Shop sells drink, it doesn't mean the Farmer wouldn't appreciate a free bottle. sitsinhedges
I have got my farmers a crate of real ale each. 'Classic Ales of England' from most supermarkets for about £15. Not everyone likes whisky but most don't mind a nice glass of beer or two at Christmas, and it always seems to go down well without being too over the top. Apart from the one who's going in for a new knee shortly, might get him some paracetamol

PhilR
As special offers have come up over the year on single malts I've bought a couple and put them to one side. My farmers, garage and gunsmith get a bottle as it all helps and everyone appreciates a thank you.
Dave-G
A hamper perhaps - they can be bought at all sorts of prices to suit your wants. I get one for my base permission at about £70. Some of my other permissions get a single malt.

chris t
My wife loves it when the pigeon shooting guys drop her a bottle of white wine off at the house. (particularly the bubbly stuff) Doesn't have to cost much, but it's the thought and appreciation that means the most. And if the wifes happy, I'm happy.... Enough said. Iced Tiger
I've put a small hamper together for the three permissions I have. A bottle of red and white wine, box of roses, box of after eights, box of shortbread, box of choccy fingers and the mince pies.

Ive the same thing, that they sell booze, but still but them a very good bottle of vino.
TaxiDriver
Hmm I'm feeling a bit mean now I've bought my landowner (and my cousin who got me his permission) a half bottle of 10yr old Glenmorangie as that's what I could afford having not been able to work regularly this past year, I haven't shot there anywhere as much as I'd hoped. Had better get meself off round the shops now fer some choccies to go with it. Edited December 22, 2011 by TaxiDriver
humperdingle
I took a few photos of my farmer's land, couple of black and whites and a colour, framed them and wrapped it up for last Christmas. It's been the most popular present I've given him and his missus. Got loads more comments from them than the usual booze! Just something a bit different.
