DSPUK
Just got another jar and to me it looks different -- The old stuff was so good if you got a string of it on neck of jar it would stay there - and also where you scooped a knife blades worth out the hole stayed there - Now this new stuff seems lighter in colour and runnier - the strings on neck have run back in and surface is smooth again -- Seems to taste same though. -- Anyone else done a in depth study and noticed this ? Traztaz
Love the stuff, think it may be temprature related as the stuff I had in my Tank in iraq in 2003 was verry runny! But still the same taste!
Blunderbuss
I love Marmite...not sure about this though, not been brave enough to try it yet! Do you normally store in the fridge...it's viscosity is temperature led? I got some of this from Santa this morning. I love Marmite as a rule, we go through pounds of the stuff, I've even got a Marmite cook book somewhere. I also like unusual chocolate, with chillis etc. I have just tried it and............... It is just wrong, wrong, wrong! I've discovered that there is a limit to liking Marmite
DSPUK
Opened Marmite has always gone in cupboard so temp is same - the jar i have is definately different althought it tastes same. As a pensioner I can have marmite or ham or cheese or butter - not all together. - I should now be eating salmon but can't stand the stuff. dave
Wiggum
I used to do some electrical work in the factory at burton on Trent where they make marmite. They use massive rollers to squeeze the extract out of the yeast. It used to smell that strongly in that part of the building you couldn't breath! The one bonus of working there was the staff shop where you could get the massive jars of marmite for £1.50 and 12 pot noodles for £6 as they also made the flavour sachet's for pot noodles. Ricko
I have been using the Marstons flavoured Marmite for several years, I spotted it at a bargain price in a local cheap store and bought 8 jars of it (circa 2008). Love the stuff, on toast, on toast with scrambled egg, in gravy, in casserole etc etc

berties
Thats because it's milk chocolate, if it was high coco content dark chocolate I'm sure it would be lush! Food combos are numerous and have tried many salted caramel ,chilli ice-cream etc but marmite chocolate is wrong,we had bar given to us ,well i like marmite and I like chocolate ,took a square, and that was it,that bar went to 3 families with the same conclusion, its vial, wrong and even dressed up in a fancy box its still nasty, enrobe it in the very best 100% ecuador hacienda ,it still would be nasty! it don't work,if any ones curious save your money, some one will eventually let you have a taste as you won't want to sample much to ascertain its wrong
