apache
Never clean my .17HMR or .22RF barrel. The moderator gunges up and I dismantle it a couple of times per year.
Luckyshot
My 22 CZ has had well over 20,000 rounds through it and it has never been cleaned since the day I bought it new and it still shoots as good as it did then. remy 700
do not clean a 22 rimmy , imo it will take 200 rounds to bed back in
vampire
I use Eley subs in my .22lr and only clean it when the accuracy goes off. Same as i did clean the mod once but i cant remember when that was,i do however clean the chamber as eleys are a bit waxy.
39TDS
Worst thing I ever did was clean my 22.
Chr15j
Agree with all about not cleaning .22 rimmy! Accuracy was poor after cleaning. Only ever dod it obce! Never again. I use eley subs. Don't know if with cci will need to clean as I think theyre copper jackets. Deffo don't mix copper and lead rounds, IMO! mossy835
i had mine 10 years and never cleaned it,shot fine.
Alpha Mule
Does dragging a bore snake through it count as cleaning? When I look down the barrel I can see loads of debris in there.
Dekers
I clean all my rifles, admittedly the .22lr (which is a dedicated subsonic lead tool these days) gets cleaned the least of the lot. Probably every 200(ish) rounds, back in the target days it was EVERY use! My .22lr works, it works after a clean and it works at 200 shots, I just like to keep all my guns clean! Edit, should have said Both my .22lrs work after a clean! Edited February 29, 2012 by Dekers
alendil
so dont clean but stick to lead or coper dont switch ammo or clean if you change ammo from lead to coper or other way arround.
Dunkield
It would be interesting to see some groups from the .22's that are cleaned regularly. Mine was like a shotgun when I cleaned it, the rest of the time it will shoot into a few millimetres at 50yards. I keep the first inch of the barrel clean just to avoid extraction problems, other than that never. It only ever shoots subs.
steve_b_wales
My BRNO 22LR has had 1000's of rounds through it, and I have'nt cleaned inside the barrel for years. The rest of the rifle/mod gets a clean though. It's still very accurate.
Billy.
I don't think I've ever cleaned my .22 - It still shoots well.
bang bang birdy
on my cz, i clean the chamber and the blot after every 500ish rounds. sometimes i might put the bore snake through. i take the mod apart and clean it maybe twice a year. i shoot about 2500 rounds a year of eley sub sonic/eley green. i use my rifle for target shooting and bunnies and have not noticed any difference in groupings after cleaning. drut
I think .22lrs vary gun to gun,my Cz452 needs a couple of pull throughs with a boresnake about every 6-700 rounds to keep accuracy.I had a BSA Supersport 5 that got upset if you cleaned it and took ages to settle down afterwards.I do like to clean the wax out of the chamber regularly & clean the silencer in an ultrasonic cleaner every 500 rounds. kent
Depends on what you accept as good accuraccy. I am sure my .22 lr could shoot thousands of rounds and stil stay inside a bunnies head at 50yds say. If i want them through the same hole cleaning is essential. Cleaning shows its required when you shoot 100yds on paper, dont be fooled though they all take some re-leading in to come back to thier peak (and never, ever half clean it tends to make them worse). Always clean well between brands and type of ammo, especially if comming from or going to copper washed

Always clean well between brands and type of ammo, especially if comming from or going to copper washed Lets not get into a debate, we are close to agreeing about something! Also, as you intimate, with a .22lr, especially if it is a dedicated LEAD tool, then many will find the accuracy perfectly acceptable if they never clean it! cooter
Like many others if I clean the .22lr it takes about 100 rounds to get back to how I like it. I make a point of shooting targets every few months so that I know if the POI has drifted, and adjust if required.
CZ550Kevlar
I thought we had a swear filter on here? on a serious note don`t bother cleaning the barrel, just concentrate on the mod every now and again.

Thats interesting i have a very old steel parker hale on my LR. Totally seized internally and full of crud (even the baffles are starting to errode. Its quiet as anything you ever hear " or rather don't" and the gun shoots great with, without or with another on I am not talking minute of bunnies scull here the rig is a total tack driver, moderator seems to make squat worth of difference on accuraccy on mine
