About 5 months. My excuse is that I was lying in hospital - near dead - in 2003. I had to beg the doctor for permission to go shooting again.

When I was in hospital - a friend brought me a shooting magazine. I saw a Browning XT advertised in it. I decided to buy one - assuming I survived and could walk. I did survive and, on discharge, two friends propped me up in Bamfords, whilst I tried the XT. I then shot DTL at the A6, held up by one friend - and had a straight.

20 years, back into it now and appreciating every minute. As I'm nearly 70 things happen at reduced speed but I seem to have so much more time between sighting the quarry, mounting the gun and firing than I did when I was a callow youth of 50. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I missed a pigeon as I'd forgotten to push the safety off; this was very revealing as I never knew I had a flinch!

Due to a family bereavement I once had to sell all my guns, except one( which nobody wanted-well they did if I'd given it away!)a Winchester Model 12 Goose gun, which was too unwieldy for little else other than sitting in a dike bottom waiting for 'fowl,so only shot during the game season.

25 years! The job, family and bills got in the way. I got well into custom bikes and rallies, but eventually the kids grew up, I was widowed and then I had my driving licence pulled on medical grounds. Going stir crazy, I spotted a clay pigeon ground from the bus one day and CLICK! SGC then FAC later, back to it with a passion, at least 3x per week..
