pigeon controller
Ive not been out for two weeks due to the wife having a hip replacement, Ive been suffering from cabin fever but had a call yesterday on five hundred acres of rape. Picked up DB and went in search of the elusive pigeons, when we arrived at the farm we spoke to the farmer and he said they were all over the place help yourself, on the drive over we had not seen any birds at all. He has seven fields of rape and as we drove down the track to the biggest field we were greeted by the sight of three hundred plus birds and as we approached the gas gun lifted the lot , so we waited for them to return. We had a brew and waited after twenty minutes nothing so we drove to another field . They were all down again then the gas gun fired off again. To cut a long story short we had wasted two and a half hours chasing these birds and gave up . The statistics speak for themselves five hundred acres of rape, seven fields , sixteen gas guns equals zero decoying. We looked around and ended up on the field of failed linseed it was 13.30 and we set up knowing that the day would be short the birds were full when we spooked them off as the first bird shot was rammed so we realised that most would not return. We had a brew in the hide and then DB decided to go for a walk for a rabbit. We packed up at 15.00 as we had some bottles to deliver and ended the day with 29 pigeon and 3 rabbits. As this is possible my last post of 2012 can I wish all Pigeon Watch a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Wealthy New Year. For the statistitions who love to crunch the numbers our total for this year is according to my records is 8,879.
