Or more to the point, who is in the process of leaving.? I keep dreaming about moving to southern california where it never rains. I know the u.s.a. has problems but i am always under the impression that they fight for their people, they believe in themselves and are hard on **** takers.

I have very little chance of ending up where i want to be, but if ever the funds become available, i think i would go without looking back.

we have both thought about going to Canada in the past, but always seem to decide against it due to the thought of being on the other side of the pond if anything happens to our parents, one of thewifes aunts was unable to afford to fly home for her fathers funeral a few years ago from new zeeland

Most people (other than level headed PW members) who want to leave are running away from something, mostly financial reasons as human nature is to think the grass is greener.

I do accept a few want to leave for othe genuine reasons, weather, family, way of life, but with the last one I mentioned, people often confuse a 'holiday' with a 'normal day to day life'. They couldn't be further apart.

I have to say that as a shooter California would be way, way down the list of places to go to if the USA was my preferred country to emigrate to. Arizona, Nevada or Florida would probably be top of the list.

I love France especially around the Auvergne area, love the way of life... but I also love living in my home county of Devon , I would love to move in closer to the real rural parts of mid Devon though...

The grass is never greener.but the life style can make the difference...

Very true that. The paradox is that you only know if you really want to live somewhere once you've lived there...and you see the problem.

I know plenty of people who have tried it but always with the get out of jail free card that it's only temporary.

Despite its problems the UK is a very 'easy' country to live in generally speaking, from an infrastructure and 'getting things done' point of view.

I know a few people in other countries who literally despair at the bureaucracy, and I wouldn't even consider living anywhere I didn't speak the lingo.

I'd like to go anywhere to escape the overcrowding of Britain. I'm finding 1000 people per square mile is becoming insupportable, and its going to get much much worse. If that counts as running away so be it, I couldn't care less what other people think. Not bothered about weather, the economy, lifestyle, language as long as there is space and ideally a chance to shoot. I should have married my ex and stayed in Australia when I had the chance, but I was young and foolish.

Like many people I lack the money or the entry requirements, and increasingly the youth necessary to move to the usual places. But something will have to give soon.

He is. None of miseries of this country, the over-crowding, the social dysfunction, the cultural and economic destruction have happened by chance, they have all been engineered by a political elite who possess not a shred of public service ethic, just a desire to manipulate society for narrow partisan advantage. Never have we been so treacherously badly governed.

I emigrated to Canada at 21 but the job market was dismal in 1971 came back and went on the road contracting all over in 1977 and left the UK for good in 2002. Now off to Pune India for one year as my final fling before retirement.

You are supposed to die with fond memories NOT DREAMS.

All the best
