fielddweller
Talk about fuming i am livid. I have taken a local (to me) guy on my perms several times over the last 18 months, So i rang him Thurs to say farmer giles has just drilled 4 fields of beans and had phoned me to say one of the fields is covered in pigeons,so do you fancy shooting on Saturday as i am working Friday? My mate said he couldnt due to other comittments so i said no worries, end of call.I got finished at work early today so went for a walk around the area to look for flight lines etc ready for tomorrow, could hear gun shots from a distance but thought nothing of it .As i approached one of the fields it was aparrent somebody was shooting it,odd this( as i am sole perm shooter)then i see my mates car in the farm yard.At this point my blood was boiling so i phoned the farmer who told me my mate had come to see him saying i was busy and couldnt shoot this field so sent him instead .I then sat down for 10 mins to calm down and thought about trashing his car etc but ended up going home, where i phoned him to see how things were....NOT one mention of him shooting or going to my perm so i didnt mention i knew. Might feel different tomorrow but i doubt it. Rant over Fielddweller

flynny
Have a word mate, if he's a mate let him know how we deal with our perms ,tell him the score etc he might have thought he's doing you a favour by shooting the day you couldn't etc etc, bit sly how he ain't mentioned it though???? Don't know the answer to your predicament , but I'd have a word with him, and if need be tell him that he ain't welcome no more, make sure you tell mr farmer the dilemma etc Atb Edited April 12, 2013 by flynny

fenboy
I used to shoot with a guy and we would share permissions , we had been waiting for a particular field to be drilled as we knew a big bag was on the cards. He phoned in sick at work so I rang him to find the field had been done and he was there shooting it despite knowing I was waiting to go go with him the next day when we were off work. I told him if he wanted the shooting to himself so much he could have it , we had shot together at least twice a week for years , I have now not even spoken to him for almost ten years. Daks
Dirty, gets my goat when there are people like me who are finding it difficult to get a mentor and a permission, and others happy to abuse what they have.
Kes
I'm rather irritated by deceit myself, he will know its deceitful when you tell him to "sling his hook" and never darken your doorstep again. You should 'facebook and twitter him' so no one else will help him.
simjakcal
thats well out of order by him ! really should have a word and tell him he's not welcome there no more....good to hear the farmers on your side about it all tho....

FalconFN
Sounds like your 'mate' knew what he was doing and went out of his way to cheat a day's shooting - definitely no honest mistake. I don't know if they are (or were) a good friend, but it would let him know that you are really p##### off and that you know what he did, and you will never invite them out again. Mr Rizzini
No wonder people keep permissions to themselves, you hear stories like this and you dont know if you can trust anyone never mind a stranger/newbie with your good permissions. CWD
Got to admit its happened to me more than once or twice over the years Have lost so called friends that I thought I could trust some were mates for years all lost over some silly shooting or stalking permission It never ceases to amaze me the levels some will stoop to either I know how you feel and it hurts Regards CWD
Lord Geordie
I have had the privalige of being invited out a few times now by chaps from the forum. I am really happy to have had those offers! It's not that often I can get out due to work etc, I wouldn't dream of stooping that low. I have been out a few times with Straightshooter on his permission in Cumbria and had a good laugh. Been meaning to pop over to see him recently. I was also invited for a day out with Johnnyfox, and really appreciated the day out! As it had been a LONG time before hand. To just turn up at a guys permission and try to blag it for your own is bad enough, But lying to the landowner about the permission holder saying it was OK for you to go solo is just really low.
