The Essex Hunter
BBQ sticks work well, but in the wetter weather they go a bit soft so I split garden cane bamboo into 4 bits then put a sharp point on one end. Very good for the black stuff as the bamboo is very strong. Not a fan of steel spikes out in the field as the timber is farm friendly..... I shoot alone most of the time so cradles are not something I have got around to using as they are a little bulky, I will knock up 10 to give them a try when the rape is thickening up as one field has a nice tree on a line with a reasonable 100 yard walk!! dougall
problem with full cradles is they are so easy to lose, now Tesco bags of wooden kebab sticks work a treat,..still like cradles when you need to get the birds off the ground a bit..but at this time of year on stubble go kebab sticks.
