Mike737
Yes, we had a 7 litre 'Holden' on trial in West Yorks a goodly number of years ago, lent by the manufacturers/dealers to try and sell them. BMW also used to loan out police spec Range Rovers, Discos, Beemers etc. Mike.

HDAV
Reading the article it suggests it will go into service........ But I doubt you'll see it often except in a low loader..... But for all its impressive specifications, the McLaren is not practical for everyday patrol use. Theres not a great deal of luggage space and it has gull-wing doors that open outwards and upwards so you have to leave plenty of space when you park, PC Nairn explained. Instead, the car will be used on Britains motorways by officers from the Central Motorway Group in the Midlands. SirDread
Waste of space car for our police. Just means you can't outrun them on the motorway. we should use ramming tactics when in pursuit

HDAV
Waste of space car for our police. Just means you can't outrun them on the motorway. we should use ramming tactics when in pursuit I doubt it would hold up to any ramming, it only works in the US as they have carp rear wheel drive cars that struggle at any speed US highway driving is totally different but rather slower in my limited experience. amateur
Many years ago, I was going quite quickly on the bike in Holland and was overtaken by 2 Dutch coppers at high speed who were driving a soft-top Porsche 911with the top down - fortunately they were actually after a BMW 850 who had also overtaken me at some daft speed. They were wearing full leather gear and skull-cap helmets - as I observed when they were giving "firm advice" to the Beemer driver some kilometres further on. ordnance
I remember them trying something similar in the past. I think it was a ford RS, 200 rally car. If I remember correctly it crashed and officers were killed. I don't see how they can justify the cost. four-wheel-drive
When I was out with the dog today going through the car park of the factory units at the back of my home there was a black McLaren parked up there I have seen it several times before it just made me laugh to think that someone would pay out all of that money for a car like that and use it to commute to work nowt as strange as folks as they say.
