Greenhunter
I have had the above suggested to me as a solution to a problematic rabbit shooting situation. Basically it has roads on 2 sides and the house and offices on the other 2. Its covered in rabbits but I have not attempted to shoot it being rightly concerned about the usual problems of bouncing bullets. I expect they will still bounce but would do less damage should they do so, I guess. However, can anyone give me any advice and the benefit of their experience on this? Thanks in advance. walshie
I don't know of any that low powered. CCI quiets are about 45 ft/lbs but they aren't expanding.
pork chop
sounds like an airrifle is needed to me ,tried thoses low power rimfire rounds before and they weren't that good Edited January 27, 2014 by pork chop
Dekers
About the lowest powered specific .22lr ammo I am aware of is CCI Quiets at around 45ft lb, there is a segmented version of this but I don't believe it is available in the UK There is other ammo that can be fired in a .22lr at around 30ft lb! shinybum
my experience of cb longs was very very poor accuracy using a sako finfire, better using an air rifle
pegasus bridge
RWS cb longs are IIRC circa 32 ftlb , and ridiculously quiet but in my cz they opened up after about 30 yards, grouped like a shotgun at 50.

Greenhunter
Thanks gentlemen. The ones I was shown were CCI's. The dealer told me they were around 30ftlb so I'm not sure if I should give them a go or not. I was in the shop looking at fac air as being the best solution but at £8.75 a box it seemed a good option against spending several hundred. If they don't cut it though I guess I will have to go the rifle route. GH

malkiserow
I'd consider long nets and walk them in
Greenhunter
how about a hushpower shot gun colin Its a thought.....if only I hadn't sold mine last year: ( GH
Greenhunter
I'd consider long nets and walk them in Unfortunately its a confined space, the rabbits are rarely further than 10yds from a burrow and lots of them are in undergrowth etc so even ferrets would be difficult. kent
12 ft lb airgun! In my experience .22 RF don't shoot great till its pushing at least 45 ft lb. CB short and longs BB caps alsorts it all shoots pants when I have tried it, I gave some CB longs to a guy to try here and he could have shot a full box before he hit a large apple from prone at 50 yards! Most shooters could manage that easy with a 12 ft lb spring gun off hand . BTW I don't pretend I could have hit that apple either other than fluke, they are that bad! I sold my FAC air in fairness if you look at 35 yards being the max range of a 12 ft lb air rifle it will do most things the .22 lr sub cannot. other good thing about the airgun is you can borrow one without a slot if you don't own one, personally I think every shooter should own one. Mine comes out for rats (when I can / might get a little cavalier about backstops) Ferals in barns, squirrels and magpies in the trees. In short very useful If you have ferrets can you not cut back the undergrowth and ferret a few days after? I should welcome someone doing that here at this time of year

Andy RV
Sounds like a job for an air rifle, if you don't have one suitable i'm happy to lend a hand with my S400 if required, I'm in Woore, only up the road from you.
Paddy Galore!
i've had good results with CB longs, they're not designed to shoot ranges beyond 30 ish yds. they're for close work.
Rimfireboy
Couple of offers from Remington. I'm not a fan of Remington rimfire ammo, but these cbee's are some of the best of the reduced velocity loads, rated at 40 ft lb and 33 grain hollow point. They do expand quite well. bornfree
Are shorts no longer available. I used to shoot rats with them they worked fine up to 40 yards.
