parapilot
Be interesting to hear what went on. My thought is it has to be suicide I can't think of any other reason a gun and appropriate ammo would ever be together or loaded in a gun shop. Still not good press for us and the shop etc, and tragic for family.

Almost every negligent discharge that happens is with an "empty" gun..... However this is a somewhat different take on it http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/UPDATE-Reigate-gun-shop-fatal-shooting/story-20619422-detail/story.html Edited February 13, 2014 by HDAV
FatherandSon
Hmmmm. Interesting. The last Sentence in that article is totally irrelevant, someone has died and the newspaper comment on the price of guns!
Reeceknight
so I'm assuming it was an old pistol? that had mis fired and broke and sadly it went of the split second it was pointing at him. that's tragic.

HDAV
THis is what i found odd A member of staff was at the premises at the time, but it is not thought he saw the shooting. Questions have been asked about how the man died but the Mirror understands he fired the gun in a deliberate act. He must have pointed it at himself. Personally I'd sort it myself, but iv had all My guns stripped into component form and know them inside out, but if I did need to take them somewhere I'd be on egg shells as to keeping the thing safe and ring them first as I'm sure they wouldn't want it in the shop front either!! 80 you make mistakes, and maybe a tad more forgetful so maybe the poor fellers overlooked something and accidentally pointed it at himself or it's self inflicted, mental health etc. but all speculation until a report is released. Someone died its tragic, and it's with a gun illegal or not it's not good for out sport, or future as law abiding gun owners.

henry d
Sad and bizarre too, why would the local paper write something like this? The Mirror understands he may have walked into the shop carrying a loaded illegal handgun, possibly dating to the Second World War, and that it may have been fired deliberately. Police believe “no third party” was involved. They have not confirmed the weapon used. My emphasis.

Nikk
Looks like the guy split up with his wife and had some contact with the police (they took his guns away from him maybe?). Had access to his own cartridges so went in to the shop asked to look at one of the guns, loaded it and shot himself. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/10640561/Pensioner-who-shot-himself-dead-in-gun-shop-took-his-own-ammunition.html
