dadrew
Just been granted my FAC so brought myself my first Rimfire this morning. Gun Details.22 LR BRNO Model 2 (Complete With Scope and Mod) Bolt Action S/H Rifle Barrels: 24"Stock: 14 " Right HandedPrice: £275 (but I knocked them down to £245) DescriptionGood condition BRNO model 2 bolt action rifle in .22LR calibre. Beech pistol grip stock fitted with a slim ebonite heel plate. Blued 24" barrel and action which has been screw cut 1/2"UNF and comes complete with a Parker Hale sound moderator. The rifle has been fitted with a Kassnar 4x32mm scope using Sportsmatch double screw mounts. Manual safety catch, detachable five shot single stack magazine. Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but from what I understand, CZ used to be BRNO and this is pretty much the same as the CZ 452.

Wiltsmark
Well done mate, good fun to be had with the rimfire. Yes CZ and Brno are under the same flag not sure on the model though. Did you buy it local?
Scully
You can't go wrong with either a CZ or BRNO. Great fun.
dadrew
Well done mate, good fun to be had with the rimfire. Yes CZ and Brno are under the same flag not sure on the model though. Did you buy it local? Greenfields in Salisbury. As fas as I can tell the only difference is that the 452 has some kind of safety built into the trigger as well. dadrew
Ignorance showing through here on my part! What difference will a shortened barrel make (apart from the fact that I could fit in my slip easier lol).
Good shot?
Ignorance showing through here on my part! What difference will a shortened barrel make (apart from the fact that I could fit in my slip easier lol). That's the point', cut to 16" and threaded for moderator there will be no noticeable difference in accuracy etc but will be easier to handle and carry in the field etc.

welshwarrior
I've got a Brno mod 2e that's was made over 30 years ago it's had a hard live on the farm I tarted it back up again. Still shoots touch groups at 50 yards nice short 14" barrel.
kent
Ignorance showing through here on my part! What difference will a shortened barrel make (apart from the fact that I could fit in my slip easier lol). IMO the nice thing about your gun is it still has the open sights and holds those classic old European lines. I am a fan of short compact guns and have a shortened moderated 452 in the varmint flavour as my own .22. Changing your gun into mine is as daft as turning a a std council house into a period olde worlde cottage with beams and stone cladding. Nothing wrong with either but they shouldn't try for a lovechild
turbo33
Saw one the other day for sale that the owner had ground off the rear sight to fit a scope on with a larger objective

dadrew
Well, just been out with my new rifle to zero it. Zerroed at 60 yds (54 metres). Bearing in mind I haven't shot a .22 in well over 30 years (ex army), I finished up with a 2" group size (the last round on this target I snatched and knew that I had done it so didnt count it. The sight isnt the best (4 x 32mm), so with a better scope and a bipod, I suspect I can tighten that up. I know some people only do three round groups, what are peoples opinions on that? So the question is, "What next, better scope (if so which one, that wont break the bank) or a bipod (if so which one, that wont break the bank)?" davesw
My dad had one of those when I was a kid it had open sights he never missed a thing with it ! Wish he could come out now and show me how it was done !!

I have one of the older Brnos, with 'Made in Czechoslovakia' stamped on it, 26 inch barrel, iron sights, hogs back stock, hand chequering on the grip, interestingly figured walnut, and it has real character, as well as being lighter than the modern varmint, though I have added a removable comb raiser/ zip pocket, bullet holder to it for convenience. Scully
This is mine. Had it chopped to 16". It is one rifle I will never part with. You simply can't beat CZ/BRNO in my opinion when it comes to the humble .22rf. Looking at that photograph I have come to realise it must have been taken some time ago as it looks decidedly more 'worn' nowadays. Still the biz.
