Oscar P's trial - summing up

Anyone seen this ? The prosecutors summing up rather casts doubt on almost everything Pistorius has said, but sometimes looks fragile. In terms of the outcome, it is starting to look like (failing a fiddle) he will spend a number of years out of the mainstream. Cant be fun for Riva S's family.

Like Bernie Ecclestone?

I'm not going to comment on individual cases, just pointing out that according to the PW perceived wisdom, a court verdict of Not Guilty on a bloke is beyond question. Unless he's not a shooting type / generally disliked. Different standards apply to women. If a woman is found not guilty it's OK to suggest she worked her charms on the Judge and jury.

I can see no other outcome except "guilty".

If you woke up in the middle of the night, and your partner was not in bed, and you noticed that the bathroom door was closed, is it really rocket science to work out where your partner is?

As a Saffer, I have followed the trial with interest, and I think the prosecutor is brilliant. He has ripped apart all the "innocent" claims put forward by the defence council, and shown them to be nothing more than the rantings of a spoilt child - namely Pistorious.

Whether or not he is found guilty remains to be seen, but if he isn't then it has to be the greatest travesty of justice ever recorded.

This must be the question the vast majority of people (including my 14 year old son) asked when first hearing of this incident. My son asked, if he woke up in the middle of the night, in the dark, because he heard a noise in the bathroom, and then saw his girlfriend wasn't in the bed, wouldn't any normal person have shouted, 'is that you in the bathroom?' instead of jumping out of bed and starting shooting at the bathroom door?

Can't argue with that logic. I had to admit that if I woke up in the middle of the night to find his mam not beside me, my first reaction wouldn't be to rush to the cabinet, grab my shotgun and some cartridges and empty my gun through the bathroom door.....not even a Burnley Dave moment if I'm honest.

The thing is he didnt jump out of bed, he cant, he made a concious dicision to put his prostetic legs on, get his pistol and shoot several shots through the bathroom door, that his girlfreind was hiding behind most possibly frightened to death, fleeing from the mentally unstable "X" boyfriend who she knew was a nut with a gun.

If it was deliberate shooting, as it more and more seems to be, then he should be shot but from behind a locked toilet door.

If he is truly innocent, he should abjure guns for the rest of his life. He doesnt seem that contrite or genuine.

He has yet to use the word 'accident'.
