Tax disc confusion

Well on the 1st Oct,I removed my tax disc from the screen, not because the DVLA website says I could, but because it keeps falling off as the pouch has lost its stickyness.Fortunatly I popped it in the glove box because a policeman asked me today if I had road tax & why I was not displaying a disc( not a traffic officer just an on foot police man who was walking towards my 4x4 as I popping in the butchers)I tried politely advising him what the DVLA website states . However he was not having it,replying"do you see any other vehicles on this road without a disc"."No I dont", I replied,"I do have my disc in the glove compartment". "Well put it back on the windscreen before I give you a ticket was his reply"I started to doubt myself so duly complied, but checked the DVLA website again and it clearly states that you can remove the disc.(think I will get a new pouch and leave it on display till it runs out Jan 15.

should have let him give you a ticket and then took it to court and watched the idiot squirm, I dont have one on my main car I dont have to now as you dont need to display, only to actually have tax, its looks odd but what a difference to have a clear screen.

Bet your glad you didn't have a gun with you if that was the extent of his knowledge of the law!

It makes you wonder when a copper doesn't know something as basic as that. Being sure of the law I would have been tempted to tell him to sod off and when he's proved wrong demand an apology.

Hardly surprising I was once signaled to stop on a national limit dual carriageway ( by a copper in a dog van that I had overtaken) he then laid into me about exceeding 60 mph when I asked him to charge me along with the precise location and indicated we would discuss speed limits in court he muttered smart **** and drove off.

Exactly, he was looking at my motor oddly as he approached as it has a rifle rest fixed to the wing mirror and a red lamp on the roof.I was starting to get a little worried as I thought my grolching knive was in the back, off the night(it wasnt) before so just complied.

Ha Ha I just bought a job lot good price, also happy 104 birthday cards whos laughing now

Stick a hinge and stay on the back and sell them as nostalgic picture holders. Or hang on to them for a few years and they will be worth a fortune for all those folk who kept their last disc and want a holder to display it in.
