NorfolkAYA
Hi all I have recently gone from o/u to s/s and I'm finding that the 30gm carts are a bit punchy. Can anyone recommended a 28gm no6 or 7 shot for vermin. Regards Pete
gazyapp
I shoot fiocchi F-blues through my sxs... 28g 7.5s (English 7 I believe) don't find them punchy but that's my opinion.... Dropped plenty of pigeons and crows with them
steve_b_wales
A side by side will always feel more 'punchy' than an over and under.
CaptainBeaky
Make sure the sxs fits you properly...
bostonmick
I use velocity's in my sxs but mostly fibre wads they work well and have very little kick.

Can anyone recommended a 28gm no6 or 7 shot for vermin. Regards Pete Perhaps I'm the only one thinking this, but I don't think 2g less shot is going to make much perceivable difference to the recoil. DazzJo
Can only try though everybody is different, he asked for advice and we gave it him.
neutron619
True. I'd be looking at gun fit if the same cartridge in one gun is fine and in another beats me up. Someone said that already, of course.

joecash
minimising kick, in any shotgun is mainly to do with "fit" and decent "accessories" or "mods" like butt pads etc. Clearly the cartridges with more "bang" have an impact too. It's amazing how many people don't get advice or indeed won't spend the £50 or so with someone like welsh warrior on here to get a few words of wisdom regarding "fit" before shelling out on the wrong shotgun costing, in many cases, not "hundreds" but "thousands". NorfolkAYA
Christ like a said the gun fits fine!!!!! Just going from a heavy o/u to a light side by side I feel it kicks a bit more with 30grm carts in so goin to try some 28grm. JohnfromUK
I find Hull Imperial Game (I use 26 g, butv 28 g also available) excellent. For clays, Hull Comp X 21 g. Both suit older 2 1/2" chamber guns if that is an issue.
Big Al
I use express power pigeon size 6 29grm through my SBS and don't think they r punchy at all tbh mate, worth just giving them a go as they are only £4 and box of 25 +1 These are a great cartridge - I've only tried one box and really like them. I put them through an o/u but they were noticeably easier on the shoulder. I got good clean kills with them too. I paid £5.40 a box though but maybe that's just NI prices ......
