chrisjh
after all the noise and hullabaloo what did it actually generate 1 seat and the main man looking likely not to get in, they have about as much credibility as the Greens
Fisherman Mike
A large share of the Vote in fact which makes them the third most credible party in England.
grrclark
I don't think so, I believe that UKIP have probably influenced Conservative wins in some of the marginals, contrary to what the received wisdom was beforehand.

Dave-G
UKIP never expected to see many seats. What they have done for Britain is stick a firework in lots of places around the UK where the sun don't shine. I'm glad I helped in my small way. Vince Green
Its the inequality of the British electoral system that votes don't translate into seats. This was always destined to be their fate. I hope Nige gets in, the political world needs him. UKIP got more votes than the SNP but the SNP got over fifty seats! Think about that one for a while . Scully
after all the noise and hullabaloo what did it actually generate 1 seat and the main man looking likely not to get in, they have about as much credibility as the Greens Isn't 1 seat what was expected and what most rational people have been saying all along? I don't think anyone was expecting to see Farage in No 10 were they? They did well, despite what others have claimed. I only hope Farage stays, as he is a brilliant orator and tells it as it is, which creates a thorn in the side of those who would rather not hear the truth. Am pleased it's the Tories rather than Labour; but this will possibly mean Labour now get a more credible, charismatic leader which may not bode well for us down the line. Ans am very pleased to hear that George Gallaway has lost his seat. There's always an upside.

I agree, they've took a hell of a lot of votes in the North East and pose the only really threat to Labour, hopefully if they keep gaining momentum they can get them out out once and for all. Pheasant Feeder
I voted UKIP as did the wife and my mother. Did I hope to see a UKip PM? NO Did I expect to see a UKip MP? NO I live in a safe Labour seat, that was once a mining area so would a conservative vote of achieved anything NO. I voted UKip to add support to the share of vote they achieved, in the hope that the main parties would notice the swing in support to UKip and subsequently temper their policies on immigration accordingly. For me in a constituency that breeds generations of "my father voted Labour, his father voted Labour, and his father voted Labour so I've got to vote Labour" Its the only way I feel I can possibly get my voice heard. How come SNP get fifty odd seats and UKIP one when UKIP scored a lot more votes than the SNP? Because of the way our first past the post system works. Constituency boundaries in Scotland are drawn in such a way that they capture more seats for fewer votes. Needs reforming in some way but I can't see that happening without a fight from various quarters. Overall a blinding result. Conservative majority predicted, UKIP third largest party now by vote share, lots of big names made unemployed and likely resignations from Milliband and Clegg.
